Job Description

Education Qualification


A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a Bachelor's degree in Science is required.

Additionally, the candidate must have an ADIS or PDIS certification from a recognized State Board or NEBOSH IGC certification.


Role & responsibilities


1. Safety Plan Development and Implementation

  • Develop and implement site-specific safety plans in line with project requirements and regulatory standards.
  • Ensure that safety measures are included in the project planning and execution stages.
  • Continuously update safety plans to reflect changes in construction activities or safety regulations.

2. Risk Assessment and Hazard Identification

  • Conduct site inspections and hazard assessments to identify potential safety risks.
  • Evaluate site-specific risks such as equipment usage, hazardous materials, and environmental conditions.
  • Develop strategies to mitigate identified risks and ensure worker safety.

3. Compliance with Safety Regulations

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, local building codes, and other relevant safety standards.
  • Keep updated with changes in safety laws and regulations, ensuring the project complies with them.
  • Assist in the preparation for regulatory inspections and audits.

4. Safety Inspections and Audits

  • Conduct regular safety inspections on construction sites to ensure all safety protocols are being followed.
  • Perform audits of equipment, machinery, and safety systems (e.g., scaffolding, fall protection).
  • Identify and document safety hazards, then take corrective actions as necessary.

5. Incident Investigation and Reporting

  • Lead the investigation of accidents or near-misses to determine their root causes.
  • Prepare incident reports and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Maintain an accurate record of incidents, accidents, and safety performance metrics.

6. Safety Training and Awareness

  • Provide safety training for construction workers, including proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), safe work practices, and emergency procedures.
  • Conduct toolbox talks, safety meetings, and refresher courses to reinforce safety awareness among the team.
  • Ensure new workers receive proper safety orientation before starting on-site work.

7. Emergency Preparedness and Response

  • Develop and implement emergency response plans and ensure workers are trained in emergency protocols (e.g., fire evacuation, first aid, hazardous material spills).
  • Coordinate drills to practice emergency response procedures and assess preparedness.
  • Ensure that emergency equipment (e.g., fire extinguishers, first-aid kits) is available and operational on-site.

8. Monitoring Equipment and PPE

  • Ensure that the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is available, maintained, and worn by all workers.
  • Oversee the maintenance and inspection of safety equipment, machinery, and tools.
  • Conduct regular checks to ensure compliance with equipment safety standards.

9. Promoting Safety Culture

  • Foster a safety-first culture by encouraging safe behavior and practices across the workforce.
  • Lead by example to ensure that safety standards are followed at all times.
  • Promote open communication about safety concerns and ensure workers feel comfortable reporting hazards or unsafe practices.

10. Collaboration with Management and Supervisors

  • Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and supervisors to integrate safety protocols into construction planning and daily operations.
  • Advise on the safe use of equipment, tools, and materials, and recommend safe alternatives if necessary.
  • Assist in the development of work schedules that minimize safety risks and downtime.

11. Documentation and Record-Keeping

  • Maintain detailed records of safety inspections, audits, incident investigations, and training sessions.
  • Prepare and submit safety reports to upper management and regulatory bodies.
  • Ensure that all safety documentation is accurate, organized, and easily accessible.

12. Monitoring Health and Environmental Safety

  • Ensure that environmental safety protocols are being followed (e.g., waste management, air quality, noise control).
  • Monitor for hazardous material handling (e.g., asbestos, chemicals, flammable substances).
  • Implement and enforce protocols to maintain a safe working environment free from environmental hazards.

13. Cost-Effective Safety Solutions

  • Balance the need for safety measures with project budget constraints, ensuring that safety investments are cost-effective and do not compromise safety standards.
  • Evaluate the cost-benefit of safety measures, including training, PPE, and equipment, to recommend the most efficient use of resources.

14. Continuous Improvement of Safety Programs

  • Review and evaluate the effectiveness of safety programs and make improvements where necessary.
  • Collect feedback from workers and management to identify areas for improvement in safety policies and practices.
  • Stay informed about industry best practices and emerging safety trends to implement continuous improvements in safety management.
