Senior Mainframe Migration Specialist - Application Modernization (8-12 yrs)

Role Description :

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mainframe Migration Specialist with deep expertise in mainframe systems and a strong track record in application modernization. This role is critical to executing a high-priority project : migrating a legacy mainframe application for a leading retail client.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in mainframe technologies - COBOL/JCL/DB2/CICS, with a focus on Mainframe migration. Knowledge in Mainframe Migration and data conversion tools is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities :

Comprehensive Mainframe Assessment & Analysis :

- Conduct an in-depth analysis of existing mainframe applications, including COBOL, DB2, CICS, and batch processes, document workflows, dependencies, and data integration points, and establish a roadmap that aligns with the modernization strategy.

End-to-End Migration Strategy & Execution :

- Design a robust migration plan, addressing data mapping, transformation, and rehoming of critical functions from mainframe to Informatica.

- Ensure each phase meets strict quality, performance, and security standards, with particular attention to data integrity and continuity.

Required Skills and Qualifications :

Technical Proficiency :

- 8-10 years of specialized experience in mainframe technologies, including advanced knowledge of COBOL, DB2, CICS, JCL, and VSAM.

- Experience with Informatica, particularly in ETL and complex data integration workflows.

Analytical & Strategic Thinking :

- Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to dissect legacy applications and devise a structured, strategic modernization plan.

- Proven experience in large- scale data transformation and integration projects, including hands-on work with retail business

Project Leadership & Communication :

- Excellent project management skills with the ability to handle complex migration timelines, budgets, and quality assurance.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of articulating complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and presenting strategic recommendations.

Preferred Qualifications :

- Experience with SQL, and tools for code analysis and data migration.

- Familiarity with retail industry workflows, particularly in data management and integration.

- Certifications in Informatics, mainframe technologies, or data integration are highly desirable.
