Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to oversee payroll processes for a workforce of over 2500 employees. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in payroll management, compliance, analytics, and leadership. This role will ensure timely and accurate payroll processing, compliance with statutory and tax regulations, and support our stock-based compensation program. The Payroll Manager will also lead a team of payroll specialists, driving process improvements and fostering collaboration across departments.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Payroll Management: Oversee all aspects of payroll, including payroll processing, tax and benefits compliance, SOX compliance, and reporting. Ensure accuracy and timeliness for each payroll cycle.
  • Statutory Compliance: Ensure timely payout of all statutory payments and ensure that the company is fully compliant at all times. Handle compliance notices, driving them to closure and ensuring adherence to central and state laws and regulations.
  • Analytics: Analyse the payroll data regularly for each payroll cycle, providing insights to the management by way of dashboards and analytics. Analytics play a very important role in decision-making. Candidate should have an analytical mindset and the ability to analyse data and create relevant dashboards for the leadership team for all kinds of Business reporting and analytics.
  • Month-End Closure: Review Accounting entries and ensure timely and accurate closure of the month-end activities.
  • Accrual Analysis: Review and analyze actuarial valuation accruals, including gratuity and compensated absences, ensuring accurate financial reporting.
  • Process Optimization: Scale payroll processes, focusing on process improvements, system optimization, and change management. Oversee the prioritization of team tasks for smooth operations.
  • Team Leadership: Develop, mentor, and eectively leverage a team of payroll specialists, promoting a culture of accuracy, eciency, and collaboration.
  • Audit and Compliance: Responsible for handling various audits, including Statutory Audit, Tax Audit, and Global Internal Audit. Ensure compliance with local regulations, provide necessary documentation and data, and collaborate with auditors to ensure smooth processes.
  • Employee Grievance Management: Monitor and resolve employee inquiries promptly, ensuring high standards of service and issue resolution. Applicants should be capable of working in a ticketing environment to provide solutions for end employees who submit queries through the ticketing portal.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Skilled in building rapport with internal stakeholders across HR, Finance, and Administration, as well as with external partners. Able to act as the bridge between departments to promote transparency, resolve conflicts, and build a cohesive work environment. Business partnering is essential at Cimpress, and the candidate should possess the ability to collaborate and adapt to the overall systems and processes, along with a problem-solving mindset.

  • Stock-Based Compensation: Manage stock-based compensation processing (RSUs), ensuring accurate income reporting and tax withholding.
  • Employee Insurance Operations: Oversee insurance operations, handling escalations related to claims and ensuring smooth coordination with insurers.
  • Compensation Structuring: Design compensation breakups, including implementing flexible pay components that align with organizational policies.
  • Networking: Network with internal and external stakeholders to stay updated on industry trends, compliance requirements, and best practices, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.


Requirements:


Experience: Minimum 10 years in payroll management, preferably handling 4000+ headcounts with complex business lines.


Technical Skills: Proficiency in payroll software and advanced Excel. Experience in analytics tools like Looker, Looker Studio and Snowflake will be an added advantage.


Compliance Knowledge: In-depth understanding of statutory compliance, tax regulations, labour laws, and knowledge of RSU regulations.


Leadership: Demonstrated experience in managing and mentoring a team, fostering a collaborative and accountable culture. Skilled in setting expectations, providing feedback, and supporting growth through mentorship. Establishes performance metrics, recognizes achievements, and empowers team members to take ownership. Builds cohesion, resolves conflict eectively and guides the team through change with clear communication. Committed to aligning team goals with organizational objectives and ensuring strong cross-functional collaboration for seamless operations.


Analytical and Detail-Oriented: Strong analytical skills with the ability to review payroll data and identify actionable insights.


Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience in cross-functional collaboration.


Education: Bachelors degree in finance, Accounting or a related field. Candidates having a Masters degree will be an added advantage.
