Job Description

Designation: General Manager Operations (Fleet of EV/Air Conditioned Bus Project)


Qualification:

  • Essential: Engineering Graduate in Mechanical, Electrical, or Automobile Engineering
  • Alternate: Diploma in Mechanical, Automobile, or Electrical Engineering

Experience:

  • Minimum 8-10 years of independent experience managing a fleet of transport buses (private or government) or in the automobile sector.
  • Proven expertise in man-management skills, administrative capabilities, HR/IR proficiency, and workshop administration and management.

Languages:

  • Mandatory: Proficiency in spoken Kannada to interact effectively with local authorities, staff, and clients.

Key Performance Areas (KPAs):

  • Efficient operation and management of depots to ensure maximum profitability with minimum penalties or liquidated damages (LD).

Roles and Responsibilities:

Operational Management:

1. Coordination and Communication:

  • Collaborate with BMTC, Ohm Mobility, and local authorities for smooth operations of depots at Kamakya and Subhash Nagar, Bangalore.

2. Route and Shift Management:

  • Ensure all designated routes for A, B, and C shifts are operated on schedule without delays.

3. Driver and Staff Management:

  • Ensure daily availability of drivers and timely dispatch of route buses. Address driver shortages or exigencies promptly.
  • Provide regular training for drivers on safety, customer service, and EV-specific operations.

Maintenance and Cleanliness:

4. Inventory and Equipment:

  • Maintain an adequate inventory of PPE, consumables, tools, and equipment to ensure bus cleanliness standards are met and penalties avoided.

5. Workshop and Charging Stations:

  • Oversee daily schedules for workshop maintenance, bus washing, and EV charging stations.

6. EV Bus Operations:

  • Ensure buses are 100% charged through charging stations, preventing breakdowns due to low State of Charge (SOC).

Performance and Compliance:

  1. Minimizing Losses:
    • Monitor and reduce route-related kilometer losses by coordinating modifications with BMTC/Ohm Mobility.
  2. Preventive Maintenance (PM):
    • Ensure execution of PM jobs as per schedules, including checks on batteries, UPS systems, and air conditioning units.
    • Maintain updated checklists and records of all maintenance activities.

Procurement and Equipment Oversight:

  1. Material Procurement:
    • Coordinate with the procurement department to ensure timely supply of materials required for depot operations and maintenance.
  2. Equipment Oversight:
    • Monitor and maintain critical equipment, such as air compressors, borewell water pumps, and bus washing plants, for consistent functionality.

Administrative and Safety Oversight:

  1. Attendance Management:
    • Ensure 100% biometric attendance compliance for depot staff.
  2. Regulatory Compliance:
    • Ensure adherence to government and legal regulations at depots, with zero tolerance for deviations.
  3. Safety Measures:
    • Promote a zero-accident policy by educating drivers on safety, customer care, and the importance of human life.

Reporting and Reviews:

  1. Review Meetings:
    • Attend monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, and annual review meetings with clients, departments, and management.
  2. Documentation and Reporting:
    • Prepare and submit timely reports on depot operations, fleet performance, and compliance to stakeholders and management.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Regularly analyze Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for operational improvement.
  • Implement best practices for EV bus operations, focusing on cost-efficiency and service quality.
  • Collaborate with HR to ensure staff motivation, productivity, and grievance resolution.

Preferred Skills:

  • Strong leadership and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Kannada is mandatory, along with knowledge of English and Hindi.
