What You’ll Do

We are seeking a skilled and experienced VDI/AD Team Lead for our VDI and AD environment (Globally) to manage a team of  engineers responsible for maintaining VDI profiles and controlling access to our AD environment within AWS. The VDI/AD Team Lead will be responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining VDI solutions, providing technical guidance for the VDI/AD team and acting as an escalation point for troubleshooting and fostering collaboration between other team.  The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and a strategic mindset to ensure that the VDI and AD environments within the infrastructure are fully available.

They will work closely with the Cloud, Engineering and operations team. They will be responsible for planning, coordinating and overseeing the engineering activities related to management of the VDI/AD environments. 

An experienced technical leader, with proven experience leading a team of technical specialists and a successful track record of developing, motivating, mentoring and supporting strong engineering talent, with strengths in, communication and an ability to lead newly formed teams.

Leadership and Team Management:

  • Leadership of the VDI/AD team ensuring high availability of the VDI environment and access control
  • Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) on VDI and IAM for Hosting within Bravura Solutions
  • Lead and mentor a team of VDI/AD engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Set clear goals and objectives for the VDI/AD team aligned with the organization's strategic objectives.
  • Provide guidance and support to team members to ensure the successful management and support of VDI/AD environments.

VDI/AD Strategy and Implementation:

  • Develop, implement and review VDI profile environments
  • Drive the adoption of best practices managing AD and VDI environments within the team
  • Evaluate and identify areas for improvement and optimization within VDI and AD environments
  • Work with Vodafone and other engineering teams to ensure that VDI environments are always fully available
  • Sound knowledge around provisioning, regulatory compliance, access control and identify governance
  • Troubleshooting/resolving VDI and AD related issues both independently and with the support of other engineering teams
  • Implementing security measures to protect the VDI environment
  • Manage AD to ensure that only authorised users can access sensitive data
  • Analytical mindset, problem solving skills and be detail oriented
  • Knowledge of IAM concepts, protocols, policies, processes and technologies
  • Maintaining documentation of the VDI and AD architecture, configurations and procedures
  • Optimizing system operation and resource utilization
  • Monitoring and taking remedial actions within the virtual and physical environments to ensure system availability
  • Designing, implementing and maintaining systems to control access to resources within the AD environment
  • Review security and user access to ensure compliance with security standards
  • Ensure the availability and reliability of VDI/AD services, including providing standby/out of hours support as needed
  • Familiarity with core IAM concepts, including the principle of least privilege, Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), and Single Sign-On (SSO).
  • Understanding of Entra or similar directory services, covering user account creation and group management.
  • Basic understanding of AWS IAM to manage roles, permissions, and policies for cloud resources.
  • Exposure to ServiceNow or similar ticketing systems to track requests, document incidents, and manage access requests.
  • Familiarity with on-premises Active Directory concepts, at a basic level, is often useful, especially in hybrid environments.

Continuous Integration and Deployment:

  • Identify opportunities to optimize VDI/AD process workflows and minimize any downtime.
  • Monitoring and Incident Response of VDI/AD environments
  • Monitor and take remedial action in response to monitoring and alerting systems to proactively identify and address potential issues in VDI/AD environments.

Other:

  • Acts as escalation point for all things VDI/AD
  • Focuses on overall team's growth, retention and training
  • Attention to detail, accuracy in managing IAM roles to avoid potential security risks caused by misconfigured permissions or incorrect group memberships.
  • Effective communication skills to engage non-technical users, document solutions clearly, and collaborate in a team.
  • Problem-solving skills to resolve access issues, investigate security incidents, and adapt to new IAM use cases.

Qualification & Experience

  • Strong technical skills and knowledge of VDI/AD
  • Leadership/Team Leadership experience
  • Attention to detail oriented
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • High degree of initiative and sense of urgency
  • Very strong communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills
  • Create and map Entra groups with AWS roles with Permission Sets for new roles or modifications.
  • Review group memberships to ensure users are in appropriate roles.
  • Ensure IAM procedures meet internal policies and standards by documenting actions and completing checklists for compliance checks.
  • Responding to compromised accounts involves temporarily disabling them. 
  • Coordinate temporary elevated permissions or special access for users while ensuring proper approvals are in place. 
  • Update procedural documentation and contribute to the knowledge base for team support.
  • Respond to emergency access requests that bypass standard workflows, ensuring the appropriate overrides are documented.
  • Create on-demand reports on access logs and ServiceNow ticket resolutions for review.
  • Follow up with users and escalate issues when necessary.
  • Prepare and gather relevant access control data for on-demand audits requests.
  • Knowledge of Horizon, VSPhere, VMWare, ESX hosts architecture
  • Experience in managing a VDI farm
  • Experience and thorough knowledge of MS Windows and RHEL
  • Experience working with PowerShell
  • B.tech/MCA or Equivalent
  • 8+ years of experience.
