Job Description


The Business Development Head is responsible for driving business growth in the solar EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) sector by identifying opportunities, cultivating partnerships, and ensuring project profitability. This leadership role requires a combination of strategic planning, client relationship management, and a deep understanding of the solar energy market.


Strategic Business Development:

  • Create and execute business development strategies to meet revenue, profitability, and market share targets.
  • Identify and evaluate new business opportunities in utility-scale, commercial, and industrial solar projects.
  • Analyze market trends, competitor activity, and emerging technologies to develop innovative approaches.
  • Prepare annual sales and business development plans aligned with company objectives.

Client and Stakeholder Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Negotiate contracts, manage client expectations, and ensure timely project delivery.
  • Represent the company at industry events, forums and conferences to enhance its market presence.

Project and Proposal Management:

  • Lead the bid management process, including RFP responses, technical proposals, and financial modeling.
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to ensure project feasibility and alignment with client requirements.
  • Oversee the preparation and presentation of project proposals to clients and stakeholders.

Partnership and Channel Development:

  • Develop and manage partnerships with key players in the solar industry, including developers, suppliers, and government agencies.
  • Identify and onboard new channel partners to expand market reach.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies and government authorities to secure permits and approvals.

Team Leadership:

  • Build, mentor, and lead the business development team to achieve company goals.
  • Set performance targets and ensure accountability across the team.
  • Foster a collaborative environment that promotes innovation and continuous learning.

Required Qualifications

Educational Background

  • MBA (Sales, Marketing, or Strategy) from a reputed institution.
  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil preferred).

Experience

  • Minimum 12-15 years of experience in business development with at least 5 years in the solar EPC or renewable energy sector.
