Sr. IBM DB2 DBA - Carnival Corporation - Offshore

DayToDay Responsbilities: - Manage large enterprise IBM DB2 database systems, bringing in best practices and solutions for continuous improvement. - Handle and prevent different types of DB2 failures. - Define backup policies, manage backup and recovery failures. - Plan and schedule maintenance activities such as patching, creation or maintenance of DB2 objects. - Monitor and manage the environment proactively through automated procedures for space, memory, and CPU. - Manage DB2 security. - Maintain mainframe/DB2 jobs and minimize/prevent failures. - Handle performance issues and apply permanent resolutions proactively through problem management. - Minimize database downtime and manage parameters for fast query responses. - Determine, enforce, and document database policies, procedures, and standards. - Perform tests and evaluations regularly to ensure data security, privacy, and integrity. Must Have: - Experience in handling and preventing different types of DB2 failures - Adept at defining backup policies, managing backup and recovery failures - Planning and scheduling maintenance activities and executing the same across enterprise level - Patching, creation or maintenance of DB2 objects - Experienced in monitoring and managing the environment viz. space, memory, CPU proactively through automated procedures - Experience in managing DB2 security - Experience in maintaining mainframe/DB2 jobs and minimizing/preventing failures - Adept at handling performance issues and applying permanent resolutions proactively and through problem management - Minimize database downtime and manage parameters to provide fast query responses - Determine, enforce and document database policies, procedures and standards - Perform tests and evaluations regularly to ensure data security, privacy and integrity
