Geriatric Nurses (Elderly Care Nurses)

Roles and Responsibilities:

> They provide compassionate and specialised care to elderly patients in various healthcare settings nursing homes, hospitals and home care.

> Assess the physical, emotional and social needs of geriatric patients.

> Ensure adequate nutrition and hydration are provided for all the patients.

> Administer and manage medications, considering age-related changes and potential interaction.

> Provide wound care, prevent pressure ulcers, and manage chronic wounds.

Qualifications:

>Three-year Nursing Degree.

> Licence: Valid professional nursing licence.

> Additional education in gerontology, typically 1 to 2 years, focusing on ageing, age-related diseases, and geriatric care.

> Certification in Geriatric Nursing.

> Minimum of 2+ years of experience as a Geriatric Nurse.

> Language proficiency: Fluent in German (B2 level or higher); English skills are an added advantage.

> Clinical skills: In-depth knowledge and skills in gerontological nursing, including geriatric assessment, care planning, pain management, and wound care.

> Advanced clinical skills in assessing and managing geriatric patients.

> Effective communication with elderly patients.
