Senior Lead Engineer, Mechanical Design

As a Senior Lead Engineer in Mechanical Design, you will play a critical role in leading and overseeing the design and development of mechanical design, systems, components, and products within our organization. This role requires a deep understanding of mechanical engineering principles, strong leadership skills, and a proven track record of successfully managing complex design projects. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor junior engineers, implement Quality Assurance/Control activities and drive innovation in projects design.

Project Leadership:

• Lead and manage a team of mechanical engineers, designers, and modelers.
• Set project goals, timelines, and priorities, and ensure successful project execution.
• Act as a technical mentor to team members, providing guidance and fostering skill development.

Mechanical Design:

• Develop innovative mechanical designs for products, systems, and components.
• Utilize BIM/ Revit, CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD) to create detailed design drawings.
• Perform engineering calculations, simulations, and analysis to validate design concepts.
• Ensure designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and quality requirements.

Design Optimization:

• Continuously seek opportunities to improve design efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (electrical, architectural, structural, etc.) to integrate designs seamlessly.
• Implement Design for Constructability (DFC) principles.
• Implement sustainability and acoustic requirements in the developed design

Testing and Commissioning:

• Perform/apply testing, commissioning and validation procedures / workflows.
• Analyze test results, identify issues, and iterate on design improvements as needed.
• Ensure designs meet performance, reliability, and durability specifications.

Documentation and Reporting:

• Maintain comprehensive design documentation, including drawings, specifications, and reports.
• Provide regular project status updates to stakeholders and management.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations to communicate design concepts and outcomes.

Collaboration:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical designs into overall project development.
• Work closely with procurement to source materials, components and 3rd party services ensuring timely availability.
• Engage with external partners, suppliers, and vendors as needed.

Regulatory Compliance:

• Stay informed about relevant industry standards and regulations.
• Ensure that designs adhere to all applicable safety and compliance requirements.

QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

• Bachelor's or Masters degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience (typically 15+ years) in mechanical design and engineering.
• Strong proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Revit, AutoCAD, BIM 360).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a track record of innovation.
• Leadership and project management experience, with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
• Knowledge of construction processes and materials.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
• Familiarity with regulatory standards and compliance in relevant industries (if applicable).
