Job Description
- Bachelors degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field
- Masters degree in a relevant discipline (preferred)
- 20-22 years of experience in the copper industry
- Demonstrated track record of successful smelter operations management
- Proven experience in ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations
- Manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of the smelter, ensuring efficient and safe production of copper
- Lead and mentor a team of smelter operators and technicians, providing guidance and support as needed
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize smelting processes, improve productivity, and reduce costs
- Ensure compliance with all safety, health, and environmental regulations, conducting regular inspections and audits
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address any issues related to smelter operations and drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Prepare and manage the smelter budget, monitoring expenses and identifying opportunities for cost savings
- Oversee maintenance and repair activities to minimize downtime and maximize equipment reliability
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including suppliers, regulatory agencies, and internal departments
- Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices to drive innovation and efficiency within the smelting operations
