Interview Preparation Tips

Round: knowledge assessment
Experience: The first round was an online assessment of your knowledge in any of the three languages (C , C++, Java ).
Tips: Although they specify the syllabus but don't just rely on that.

Round: Interview
Experience: Second round was a HR + Technical interview.
The HR was combined with Technical interview in which they asked about the basic HR questions. The technical interview included a few basic questions on C or C++ programming and a few questions relating to the technicalities of the projects we did in our internships and Hobbies club..
Tips: Be well prepared for HR questions. Listen to the PPT carefully .

Round: IQ test
Experience: The third round was a simple IQ test. Be well versed with the language of your choice.

General Tips: The online test can be tackled if you study the first year alloted assigned book for the language you prefer. Having chosen C++ I was asked many questions related to templates and data structures.
College Name: IIT Roorkee

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: Questions were based on basic maths and english but time duration as per level of questions was very less. I was hardly able to attempt 90 question.
Tips: Firstly attempt questions from the topics in which you are more comfortable. Don't spend much time in thinking.
Duration: 60 minutes
Total Questions: 120

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: As I am from statistics background ao they asked me questions from regression and inference in depth. Rest all question were from basic stats. And yes they ask question from everything what is there in your resume.
Tips: Be ready for question from everything what is there in your resume and prepare them in advance.

Round: HR Interview
Experience: It was easy and hardly last for 10 min
Tips: Be confident on whatever you speak and prepare for general HR questions in advance.

College Name: IIT BOMBAY

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Interview
Experience: The round was of 1 hour

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: 10 people per group

General Tips: This company, as I understand, is looking for future managers. No technical preparation is required as didn’t ask a single question related to academics. You just need to convince them that you are ready to do whatever they want you to do in the company be it coding or data entry and depending on your luck and soft skills you will get through.
Skill Tips: Cut off is 8.
College Name: IIT KHARAGPUR

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Resume Shortlist
Experience: Fundae session by seniors and a resume workshop by some company. Also, sent resume to some seniors for their opinions and I think this was an important part of it.
Tips: I suggest Pre-placement talks, are a must. What is more important is not to believe the PPTs completely and ask seniors about the level of fundaes (finance/tech/otherwise) and preparation required to crack the company. There is a lot of good material on ATKEARNEY and other website. Other than that I used the material available for years.

Round: Interview
Experience: Final offers in my division were 12. There were two levels of case interviews. The first interview was to judge if I would be suitable for the Strategy and Operations profile or for the Technology and Integration profile. There were two interviewers. They explained to me both the profiles and asked me what I wanted to choose and why. Then asked me some general HR questions like why consulting, why you etc. Then started off with an informal case study. It was about a new company which wanted to start a new low cost airline and had no experience in this market till now. It has two options: either to acquire an existing company or to build up all processes on their own. I was first asked to qualitatively mention what all aspects I would consider. After that they asked me what new things could this company do. They were pretty satisfied with my answers and I was confident of getting listed in the next round. In the next round there was single interviewer who was looking quite senior. Asked some HR questions. One case study about a consumer durables dealer which was again qualitative. Asked some HR questions that's it.

General Tips: Lack of interaction with seniors throughout IIT stay was one thing for which I had to pay. I had no seniors in my wing and I had no fundae of the amount of preparation required.
So make sure that you have certain information.

10 Questions

  • Q1. Find sum of all numbers that are formed from root to leaf path (code) expected time complexity O(n)
  • Ans.

Find sum of all numbers formed from root to leaf path in a binary tree

    • Traverse the binary tree using DFS

    • At each leaf node, add the number formed from root to leaf path to a sum variable

    • Return the sum variable

    • Time complexity: O(n)

    • Example: For a binary tree with root value 1, left child 2 and right child 3, the sum would be 12 + 13 = 25

  • Q2. Given a string you need to print all possible strings that can be made by placing spaces (zero or one) in between them. For example : ABC -> A BC, AB C, ABC, A B C
  • Ans.

Given a string, print all possible strings that can be made by placing spaces (zero or one) in between them.

    • Use recursion to generate all possible combinations of spaces

    • For each recursive call, either add a space or don't add a space between the current character and the next character

    • Base case is when there are no more characters left to add spaces between

    • Time complexity is O(2^n) where n is the length of the string

  • Q3. Preorder traversal without using recursion
  • Ans.

    Preorder traversal without recursion

  • Q9. Design data structure that supports insert(), remove(), find-max(), delete-max() operations. All operations should run in O(1) time. Lots of discussion was there, discussed many approaches.
  • Ans.

Design a data structure with O(1) insert, remove, find-max, and delete-max operations.

    • Use a doubly linked list to maintain the elements in sorted order.

  • Q10. Check whether given link list represents palindrome
  • Ans.

Check if a given linked list is a palindrome.

    • Traverse the linked list and store the values in an array.

    • Compare the first and last elements of the array, then move towards the center.

    • If all elements match, the linked list is a palindrome.

    • Alternatively, use two pointers to find the middle of the linked list and reverse the second half.

    • Compare the first half with the reversed second half to check for a palindrome.
