Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: It consisted of three rounds:

1. Written round-consisted of sections comprising of:
A.) Arithmetic and Logical Reasoning - 40 questions in 40 mins.

This aptitude section was itself in 2 sections each having 20 questions to be done in 20 mins. One section has questions on trains, time and work, problems on ages, P&C, Time and Distance, Ratio and Proportions, Boat and Streams. Second section consisted of questions more from Profit and Loss and some were from the above mentioned topics.

The questions were easy but you should be confident and have some practice of these types before appearing in exam. Consider time as the most important factor.

B.) Basic Engineering Aptitude - 35 questions in 40 mins.

In this section questions were from basic OS concepts, DBMS, SQL queries, Object-Oriented Concepts, Basic C/C++ Concepts.

Object-Oriented Concepts were not asked directly but their practical implementations were asked in the form of MCQ's.

C.) Advanced Coding Section - 20 questions in 40 mins.

It consisted of an example of a situation which was incompletely implemented in JAVA. Certain questions were given based on the condition. This section was basically to test your skills and concepts of JAVA. If you program in C++ then also attempting this section was not a big deal.

D.) Flow-Chart Based - 5 questions in 10 mins.

An incomplete flow chart was given along with a condition and based on that condition you have to complete the flow-chart. It was quite easy and you will be able to complete it within 6-7 mins.

E.) English round - 20 questions in 20 mins.

Questions in this section were very easy. It consisted of simple correct grammatical mistakes, usage of words in sentences type questions.

Tips: This was an online aptitude test conducted in our campus i.e. Vidyalankar Institute of Technology, Mumbai. Out of around 600 student 16 were short-listed from our college through this round so a bit tough filtering was there.

The round is likely to test your basic concepts that we learnt in second and third year so if you go through those concepts, you are through. I downloaded Android apps from play stores to take a glance at every subject and important concepts. Apps like pocket aptitude, logical reasoning, etc helped me quite a lot.

Learning and revising was done on apps and practice I did on-line from websites like indiabix.com . Practice is very important as it boost our confidence ad ultimately aces our chance of getting recruited in our targeted company. So just make sure to brush up concepts, memorize formulae and practice tough problems.

Duration: 150 minutes
Total Questions: 120

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: We were called for HR talk in Sinhgad Vadgaon @9.00am. They told us to fill a form and then the HR talk started. Quite a good experience. Then came the technical interviews. I was called@1.15pm. My interviewer was a very kind lady. She started by asking me topics of my interests and asked the questions on those topics. Then asked me if I had any previous experiences on using the technologies so I gave her description about the intern ship and the mini projects I did. I also showed the curiosity to enhance my skills for the improvements in the contribution to the company if I will be a part of it. Transparency is important. Say no if you don't know the answer. I answered almost all the questions confidently and said no if I didn't know the answer.
Tips: WORK SMART NOT HARD.

Don't get confused by seeing the syllabus, just focus on subjects you are good at and master at it first and then go for other subjects basics. It is pointless to read reference books couple of days before the test. So download all the apps related to subject for doing productive and targeted study.

I thank Prof. Santosh Tamboli sir for guiding me on what and how to prepare for the Oracle Technical Interview. He told me to cover topics in DBMS, SQL, Java, C and also go through all the Java programs. He also suggested few Android apps to prepare for the round only in less than 4 days. Few of the apps were CodeBook(for all programs), SQL, Java, OS and C interview questions.

Round: HR Interview
Experience: My HR interview *****. Guys, be confident in what ever you say. Make them realize that you are completely fit for their company and you need that company for making you skills worth the value. Be prepared with any general issue (in my case topic was are resumes necessary in recruitment process) because they may sometimes asks you to talk on an issue. Don't forget to give the proper solution too. It tells them that you are a good analyst and problem solver. A single slip of tongue may let you lose this opportunity. So hold your tongue before you spell a single letter. Be kind to the interviewer.

Simple key to success in cracking HR is speak about how your contribution in company's operations will help making it a success. So make it a point to study about the company, important people in the company and products.
Tips: Transparency is very important aspects in interviews. No need to show off or decide on how to behave or speak after a question is being asked. Rather just focus on setting your mind to think "This is my dream company.". Definitely you will respond according to the interviewer's requirement.

Give them the reason why you need that company and what you are going to do for it.

Round: Other Interview
Experience: This was a random round @6.15pm (in toto a surprise round for few of us). He basically asked me about almost everything that I had mention in my resume and a few basic technical questions.Told me to write a program on a sheet. Sort of lenient interview. Just had confidence with all the answers so cracked it.
Tips: Never lose hopes. Have patience. Speak confidently. Be ready for a surprise round. This extra round was targeted on testing our presence of mind and how we handle the tough situations in high stress.

General Tips: First of all get aware of the syllabus, make sure of the subjects you know and plan the strategy accordingly. Make use of all possible technologies available in the market as they provide us the shortcut and makes our preparation a bit easy.
Skill Tips: Your attitude not your aptitude will determine your altitude(This is true after cracking you aptitude test). Always be positive in your knowledge and thoughts as well as your personality. Only with the confidence and a pure desire to get a company will land you to that opportunity(job).
Skills: Analyzing And Problem Solving Skills, Aptitude, Operating Systems, Algorithms And Data Structures, Ability To Make Quick Calculations, Ability To Be Involved In Hands On Work, Speed, Clarity Of Thoughts, Basic Concepts Of Launguages
College Name: Vidyalankar Institute Of Technology
Motivation: The name ORACLE FINANCE itself is sufficient to get motivated. Best company to start your career with. Able to contribute to the project which is always worth in the market.
Funny Moments: The announcement of the selected candidates were done @7.30pm. After so much of frustration and few sleepless nights and few hours of patience, the moment arrived.

On an initial note, they thanked us to be there and explained us about their experience. Then started to announce the names of selected candidates according to the groups. There were 4 groups formed. 23 students were selected.

When he was announcing the names written on a sheet, I took a quick glance on names on the backside on the sheet as I was sitting very close to the stage I was able to see it blurry. That YAAAY!!! moment. I saw my name there, second from top. Yes I did it!!! and finally he announced my name and from that moment I was a part of my dream company Oracle Finance.
