Duration: 60 minutes

Round: Group Discussion
Tips: 9 people were in a group. Time for GD was 20 minutes including 5 minutes for summarising.
Duration: 20 minutes

Round: Interview
Experience: Firstly, I summarized and explained the key highlights of my resume in about 5-6 minutes. Then, based on my resume they started asking some HR questions and tried to grill me on those. After that, theyasked me some common puzzles.
Tips: There was a single PI round. The panel consisted of 3 members. The HR and resume based questions that are generally asked in an interview are different for every person. So, it's in the hands of the candidate to turn the tide of questions in his favor by ending the answer to the last question on a positive note. The next  question that the interviewer asks will be based on the last answered question. You will get the common puzzles on googling. Just write " 25 horses puzzle" and " 100 doors puzzle". They also asked me to form numbers from 1to 15 using only four 4's and any mathematical operator.

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: Though the paper was easy you have to score very high marks to qualify for the next round.
Duration: 30 minutes
Total Questions: 25

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: The GD round consisted of current affair topics. Since topics like these are very popular and everybody likes to talk about them, it is important that you start the topic so as to have a good hold over the group. If not just try and give a direction to the group with valid points so as to become noticeable. Do conclude the discussion.

Round: Interview
Experience: The interview was basically resume based. They asked me about my projects in the domain of finance and were quite impressed by it. They wanted me to discuss all my academic and internship projects in detail. The interview lasted for 30 minutes approximately. They also inquired briefly about me. They also asked me questions about my technical projects though it didn't have anything to do with the profile offered. Their main aim was to know whether I performed well in the tasks assigned to me even if they did not interest me.
Tips: Try not to mention anything about MBA if any one of you is planning to go for it.

College Name: IIT ROORKEE

I appeared for an interview in Aug 2016.

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: The questions were of moderate difficulty level
Duration: 1 hour

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: We were given a case study. Revenues and all sorts of data for each of 5 outlets of a company were given. We were asked to thoroughly study the data and come to a conclusion about which of the outlets should be shut down.

Round: Technical + HR Interview
Experience: Questions were asked from concepts of statistics and econometrics. They asked me about my studies, my internship and my future plans. The interviewers were friendly.

College Name: Jadavpur University, Kolkata

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Resume Shortlist
Experience: I had a standard resume for this company as per our institute placement cell norms.
For a consultant profile, they do look for a consistent academic performance, scholarships, Olympiads etc. So I did make sure to include all my academic achievements in my resume.

Round: Test
Experience: This was the first round and was conducted in October itself, well before the final placement process that begins only in December. The test had 20 questions. All the questions described a particular situation and 4 options describing solutions/implications of the situation were provided. The candidate was supposed to choose one of the 4 alternatives, which according to him, was the best possible answer. From what I recall, there wasn’t much calculation involved. Use of calculator was permitted.
Tips: Attempt all the questions. Be accurate.

Round: Guesstimate Interview
Experience: Around 23 students got shortlisted for the next round of selection process which was held in December.
This round was based on “guesstimate” problems. I was asked to calculate the total annual revenue of McDonalds in India. No other data was given. Use of calculator was not permitted. This interview lasted for about 10-15 minutes.
Some other candidate was asked to estimate the length of roads in Delhi. Another one was asked to calculate the number of road side ads/banners in Delhi.
Tips: Prepare for guesstimate problems and qualitative case analysis.

College Name: IIT ROORKEE
Motivation: Indus Insights is a new company. It had a team of only 6 people when it came for recruiting. Not much information was available on the internet. I did attend its pre-placement talk and that acted as the main source of information about the company and the profile offered.

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Resume Shortlist
Experience: I had a standard resume for this company as per our institute placement cell norms.
They were least interested in my resume. They cared more about your analytical skills rather than on your on campus activities.

Round: Test
Experience: The first round was the written test which had a few questions from data interpretation and some questions that were quite peculiar to the consulting sector as such. Only 24 students got shortlisted for the next round out of close to 350 applicants.
Tips: The cut off for the written test was very high. So ensuring accuracy and attempting all the questions is important.

Round: Case Study Interview
Experience: The next round was the case study round. The case that I was presented with was to calculate the number of hoardings in a metropolitan city with the help of given data. I failed to qualify beyond this round.
Tips: One should prepare for “Guesstimate” type case interviews (where the interviewee is tried to estimate the final answer based on logical deduction and analysis of the given facts) for this company as they give very high emphasis to the performance in the case study interview round.

College Name: IIT ROORKEE
Motivation: Indus Insight is a start-up which uses quantitative analytics to give solution to real life problems encountered in business. The company was founded by an IITB alumnus. It is growing at a fast pace and the best source of information about them was the pre placement talk organised by them.

College Name: NIT Surat
Funny Moments: As the HR interviewer is an alumni of my college, we had some chat about the college. This made the interview mood very light.

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: The questions were of medium to high difficulty. What set this test apart was the fact that each question had different weightage ranging from 0.5 to 3 marks per question. Time was a major factor. So my strategy was to attempt all the 1 and 1.5 marks questions which constitute the major chunk of the paper in around 40 minutes and spend the remaining 20 minutes for the 2 and 3 mark questions. I did not even bother reading the 0.5 mark questions. The 2 and 3 mark questions were difficult and those will differentiate you from others. 1600 students wrote the test and only 86 got shortlisted for the next round.
Duration: 60 minutes
Total Questions: 40

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: I was asked to write a C program to print the Fibonacci sequence and a basic SQL query. Apart from this I was asked a puzzle and other questions related to my resume. Out of the 86, only 26 students were called for the next round which again was a technical interview.

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: This was similar to the first technical interview. I had to write a C program to print the prime numbers between 1 and 100 and a puzzle was asked again. Apart from this a guesstimate to find the number of cars between 2 places was asked and a scenario based question too was asked. These were followed by resume related questions.

Round: HR Interview
Experience: All the 26 students who attended the second technical round were allowed to attend HR round as well. This was just for 4 - 5 minutes. I was asked about my family background and why I should be hired. My fondest memories from school days were asked too. Finally offer letter was given to 10 students out of the 1600 who wrote the test :P

General Tips: Just keep a calm head and attempt the questions. Ask for time to think if you are not able to answer the questions immediately. Be bold and confident. That is sufficient :)
