Interview Preparation Tips

Interview preparation tips for other job seekers - I faced shockingly unprofessional and fraudulent behaviour by UST Global HR.Position was permenent with UST Global but I would work in Amadeus Software labs office in Prestige Techno Park office in Kadubeesanhalli in Bangalore. There were 2 rounds, first one was telephonic which I cleared. The second was face 2 face,I went to Amadeus office in PrestegeTech Park. That interview went off well ,I answered all the questions. But shockingly I was told two days later the feedback was not positive.
I was shocked as all the time and effort that I had invested in attending this interview had got wasted. The actual reason was that UST Global was not competent enough to pay my expected CTC so they shamelessly gave an excuse that the interview feedback was not positive.Such fraudulent practices must be checked. As this is Bangalore and UST Global is not the only company that is there, if my interview had not gone well I would have concentrated on other interviews rather than writing this review. The only intention behind writing this review is to expose what this company has done.Fraud should always be called out, ignoring it only serves as further encouragement. Hence ,I would urge people to exercise due caution while attending this company's interview.

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Resume Shortlist
Experience: based on the ur resume prepartion

General Tips: This interview was a technical one but was majorly a stress test. It lasted for about 1 hour 10 minutes. The interviewer wanted to test both my knowledge and communication skills. Most of the questions asked to me were related to my B.Tech curriculum i.e. computer science related topics. He stressed a lot on the basics related to my project topic. Luckily I was able to answer most of the questions correctly. I tried to answer each question with examples and also used props on the table (like pens, paperweights, pen stands etc.) to explain my theories. It was my first offcampus interview, and I think I did pretty well for a fresher.
You need to stay calm and should apply presence of mind. Please go through the job description thoroughly word-by-word and recheck your resume to ensure that you are a best-fit for the position.

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: CAT type questions on maths and English. Speed matters. Preparation for CAT helps, I did not sit for CAT but I went through is DI material before the test to increase my speed. Questions in general are easy. Conduct yourself professionally. Deloitte decides to allot you a profile depending on your score in this test most probably. So make sure you do well in this test. I think the highest scoring candidates are shortlisted for the S&O profile, though I am not sure about it.
Tips: If you are up for a career in management consulting and can't possibly be shortlisted by Mckinsey or BCG, this is your golden opportunity. You have to do well in the test for it. Deloitte is one of the best places in the world for management consulting after MBB firms and I believe some people might have gotten selected for this profile just because they did well in this test (by fair or unfair means!!)

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: You are given a case. Your group of 10 has to find a solution for a client. The process lasts for about 30 minutes. The key is staying calm and composed and not disputing and challenging others violently! At the end you are supposed to give a presentation on the problem and it solution, 5 minutes for each member.
Tips: Speak less rather than speaking trash. Introduce yourself first when asked to give your part of the presentation and behave professionally, they check more on your professional behavior than the effectiveness of your solution. 50 % of the students passing this round generally make it to the offer. Hence this is the most important round. If you have done very well in this round you will probably do well in the PI.

Round: Behavorial Interview
Experience: Behavioral questions base on your resume.
I had networked a bit with my interviewer before the interview because both of us were waiting to enter the interview room and it felt awkward not talking to him. I think that might have helped.

Dont go for a technology profile hoping you will get to enter the management consulting space some day. Technology consulting is a good career choice only if you are passionate about it, or else it is a disaster, since the only exit route is an MBA application.
Dont go without reading about the company, it was a big source of worry for me
Tips: Answer the questions diplomatically. Appearing confident helps. I kept a smiling face no matter how tensed I was, that might help.
Know all the points in your resume and prepare to answer all behavioral questions you can possibly think of.
Have some questions to ask at the end of the interview.

General Tips: Its good if you have some extra academic involvement to have some discussion points during your PI. Or when you are asked about an achievement you are very proud of.
Skill Tips: I felt the company loves to hire calm and professional people who can articulate themselves properly. And do well in the written test if you want a profile of your choice.
Deloitte is probably the only company to be able to compete with the likes of Mckinsey in management consulting and IBM in technology, at the same time. No doubt, it is a great brand name to work with. It is highly rated in both the fields.
Strategy and Operations is a very good career if you are looking for management consulting, they have a program to train and sponsor you for the best B-Schools in the world.
The technology profiles are good if you are passionate about technology and its integration.
So be careful about your choices.

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: For the written test, 1st round contains 2-3 parts of question and you have give answers as soon as possible because speed also matters.
It contains question related to a different programming language used by EPIC and mathematical ability question.
Tips: If u cleared written test then chances for clearing interview is very high.

Round: Test
Experience: 2nd round is a subjective round contains 4 question for coding. Coding is to be done without compiler and also we have to write comments for explanation.
2nd round is subjective. Programme must be written in c/c++ and
without compiler.
Tips: If u cleared written test then chances for clearing interview is very high.

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: Telephonic interview is of 25-35 min. for technical
Interview is easy but tricky because it is telephonic. They asked about projects done in bachelor's and a case study or some easy problems which doesn't require pen paper for solution.

Round: HR Interview
Experience: Telephonic interview is of 10-15 min. for HR
HR interview is formality (at least in my case). They just verified whatever written in my resume. They asked nothing.

General Tips: If u cleared written test then chances for clearing interview is very high. In our time they shortlisted 14 candidates for interview and finally selected 10 students but 7 students from B.Tech rejected EPIC offer. So, finally only 3 students from M.Tech got placed
in EPIC.
My suggestion for you is that there is VISA problem with EPIC because office is only i n USA. So, if placed in EPIC, try for other companies off-campus. Chances for getting VISA is very less.

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Interview
Experience: A systematic approach is all what he expects from us. Our approach and our way of thinking is what he observes. An algorithm to solve a single face worked in my case. So called HR interview was more technical and a discussion about the projects mentioned in my resume.
Tips: An overview on problems like sudoku, rubik's cube, chess etc. A proper approach and a structure for solving the problem should be mentioned.

Round: Interview
Experience: Some questions on basic data structures, dynamic programming and recursion.
Tips: Recognize the problem(dp, recursion, etc.). Throw some algorithm.

General Tips: Be clear with basics.
Skill Tips: ""
Skills: Data structures, Data Processing, Recursion

Funny Moments: A saviour for the leftover cse students especially b.tech and dual. It does not depend on whether your interview went well or not. Just basic cse stuff is enough.
