I applied via Referral and was interviewed before Sep 2022. There were 2 interview rounds.

Round 1 - Assignment 

They give us different topics to write on and then they examine the quality of content, analytical skills etc. It is hard to score high and the assignment was very competitive.

Round 2 - Case Study 

Their case study topics are based on the skills and works which you will to do after joining. They will try to puzzle you as much as possible and you have to give your best with confidence. My case study performance was really amazing and they opted me because I have done very well in case study.

Interview Preparation Tips

Interview preparation tips for other job seekers - They will take some tests, give assignments, take one on one interview or anything else according to your job skills. Their examiners are very skillful and understand the ability of candidate very precisely. There is also a very good thing that instead of qualifications they focus on skills of candidate.

Disappointing Interview Experience with D.E. Shaw
I recently interviewed with D.E. Shaw, and it turned out to be one of the most draining experiences I’ve had. The interviewer’s approach felt unnecessarily harsh and dismissive, which made the entire process uncomfortable. At multiple points, the interviewer asked me to drop off the call, even when I tried asking basic questions about the designation, job description, and other details. After the interview, I found myself sitting there for a few minutes, trying to process what just happened. It left me questioning the overall tone and professionalism of the interview. Definitely not the experience I was expecting from such a well-known firm.
