Interview Preparation Tips
Round: Case Study Interview Experience: Its not an elimination round, you can go with your informal clothes on. Tips: Any one who has prepared for day 1 and day 2 companies will get through this round. Just read news papers and learn to shoot graphs here and there even if it has got absolutely no facts and definitely practice to write a lot. Be prepared with both for and against the topic coz the interviewer keeps changing the topic in between the GD.The topic was same as that of the case study Don’t write bullet-ed points, this makes your cases look small. Try applying your vocabulary spectrum. Try to give exhibits even if you don’t know any facts.
Round: Group Discussion Experience: 12 students on the table, one interviewer. Tips: Play old school .But don’t wait for your chance, just break into it, but with a gentlemanly attitude. Try giving examples. Throw arbitrary facts to prove your points, if you don’t remember the real figures.
Round: HR Interview Experience: Two interviewee were present. Tips: Don’t start with your brilliancein your core subject. Tell them you hate your department. Convince them that you won’t ditch them for a Ph.D or an MBA. Tell them you have a friend at Wipro who keeps giving you intel about how great the company is. Look confident and if at times you can be funny, they will appreciate it!!
Skill Tips: 8 and above CGPA is required. Later it was lowered to 7.9, mine was 7.98. They mainly ask HR questions, so being involved in Extra-academic activities gives you more that you can talk of. I had an eye for coding in C++. Helped me on this, but my extra-acads list was enough. Coding was just a bonus. If they are non core its better. But my both the internships were core based. You just have to convince them why you are dropping from core. College Name: IIT KHARAGPUR
Round: Interview Experience: 1st round: Panel of two. Asked questions about the projects which were mentioned in the resume. A few questions were asked about the core intern which I did. Interview Preparation Tips
Round: Group Discussion Experience: 1) BBG shipping has experience of turning around two companies and is one of the largest companies in this segement
2) City shipping is largest private company into ship repair and ship breaking but not in similar segment.
3) Sonyo shipping is one of the oldest shipping company and has various businesses related this. It is looking forward to expand in china and India and looking forward to expand and acquire some ship breaking company to create a low cost base.
Bids are:
BBG: 100% of debt for seven years 9% interest pa
City: 90% of debt for seven years 10% interest pa
Sonyo: 85% of debt for five years 13% interest pa
As a manager you have to take decision. Your senior has called up to look for bid of City and this will help to build relationship with city. The bank already has relationship with BBG. What will you recommend?
Round: HR Interview Experience: I can’t say I was 100% right in all my answers but I tried to simplify every answer. I knew my CV very well and was able to anticipate questions like why less marks.
General Tips: Through knowledge of sectors and other fin subjects. Was confident as I had prepared well for the interview. In GD one has to contribute 2-3 good points that was sufficient. There were people who remained silent but contributed even 1 good point were selected for interview atleast. In interview they gauge your fitment wrt role and their core values. Skills: Economics, Finance College Name: NA
Round: Resume Shortlist Experience: I had sent my resume to the hiring group, Selection through telephonic interviews. I was interviewed by three different research groups (once by each). Tips: Factors in decreasing order of importance: CGPA each stage. Ability to explain your projects precisely. Ability to solve ''standard" logarithmic problems. The way you think and put down your Answer is the most important. The final answer .s not so I important, and they prod you when you think out aloud anyway.
Round: Technical Interview Experience: Almost- by default they ask about your previous projects/internships if they are relevant to the group. Ofher questions depend on the group you are interviewed by and your own profile, In my case it was machine learning, text mining etc. I was told about the research problem they were dealing with then and asked f or comments/suggestions/.inputs and a discussion followed. Tips: Basically these are specialized Interviews so it's good to have sound knowledge of your domain (analytical and application skills are very much required).
Skill Tips: CGPA>9.0, 1f not (like me) relevant work done in the domain and in past internship.A recommendation from the professor is also a good add on. College Name: IIT Madras
