The assignment involved providing peer reviews on an already published article. The article was in my broad area of specialization. I was given a couple of days to perform a comprehensive review of the article. I brought out the deficiencies in novelty, reseach gap, methodology and presentation of the manuscript and suggested ways to improve the manuscript. Besides, I was asked to provide details of some alternative journals in which this work could have been published if it wasn't already published.

Interview preparation tips for other job seekers - The basic requirement to serve as a Scientific Reviewer is a Ph.D. Besides, you will need to have authored a few high impact journal articles as a first author. The peer review should be done in a very comprehensive manner which is quite unlike the one that we observe in the traditional approach. This means, you should highlight the problems and also suggest probable solutions to those problems. The solutions should be practical enough for the authors to be able to execute them in a limited time. Most importantly, you should never speak about the work in a condescending tone and your suggestions should be in the form of constructive criticism.
