Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: Fairly difficult

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: Inconsequential

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: My PI was taken by Dr. Rajamani (he is my HOD now) who is very sound technically and is well known in the electrical field (look him up).

Skill Tips: If you are interested in Reliance Energy, note that Rinfra is currently expanding in a big way in the EPC business (power plants etc), so if you are technically very good and are not planning on PG, then it is a very good option. Not many are given the EPC business work though... so you could be sent to Mumbai discom for doing not so exciting work... my friend who had the same GPA as I had was given complaint management related work, which was less stressful. well he used it well to get his PG done so he came out on top in the end. I am in the EPC business and I am struggling to get my PG on track... so make a wise choice.

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: Interview was ok... dont tell them that your favourite subject was EMF even if it was... because they can't ask questions on it (Siemens is into power, not antennas).. so say something like machines / switchgear / transformers related... they make switchgear / motors / transformers so be good in it...

General Tips: Siemens is a good company.. a couple of my friends have been to germany and iran etc for work... but I didn't join Siemens because they paid abysmally as compared to Rinfra (rinfra paid twice). The work is good, but the pay is a big negative.

  • Q5. What is the difference between a summation and an integral? [This was asked because I mentioned Math as my strongest point]
  • Q6. In what cases is the Simplex method of solving simultaneous equations used?
  • Q7. Which sector of the industry do you think will boom in the next five years? [My answer: Statistics]
  • Q8. Do you have any questions for us?

Interview Preparation Tips

General Tips: "1. I felt the Apti was the toughest part in the whole process. 45 seconds is just not sufficient to answer the questions esp. the ones on Probability; so brush up on the math! If you've learnt your concepts well, the technical questions ought to be a breeze.
2. Make sure you speak some sense at least thrice in the GD, and you're through.
3. They never once interrupted me in the PI. They waited for me to complete what I was saying, and then the next question was based on my last two sentences! So be very careful of what you're saying esp. while answering the technical questions. Most importantly, be very genuine throughout the interview- speak your heart out- and don't worry about how it's going, in the middle of it!

Good luck."
Skill Tips: [It's generally good to ask them a question or two here. I asked them if I could choose my preferred work location, and how the work-culture was at Tata Motors]"
