  • Q1. The puzzle & Casestudy rounds wer taken together

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: No specific preparation. I had started working on aptitude right after I came from summer vacation. I instead worked on puzzles as I was very weak in solving them.
Tips: NA

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: I had taken part in GD sessions during my third year. I always loved to be part of meaningful discussions. I keep looking up and reading news articles on news.google.co.in and discuss the various issues (national, international, sports etc.) with friends. Once you are up to date on current affairs, half of your GD preparation is done. The other half is putting your points correctly to the group. That can be done by practice alone.
Tips: NA

Round: Puzzle Interview
Experience: Solving puzzles and putting the right things on my CV. I has specifically mentioned the open elective courses that I had taken. He asked me questions from my current elective, i.e, theory of Microeconomics and the clubs that I had been part of.
Tips: Focus on Aptitude. Puzzles. Logical Reasoning. Good communication skill.

Round: HR Interview
Experience: Solving puzzles and putting the right things on my CV. I has specifically mentioned the open elective courses that I had taken. He asked me questions from my current elective, i.e, theory of Microeconomics and the clubs that I had been part of.
Tips: Start working for placements right from the summer vacation. Do not waste time during that period. Do read about the company on their website or Wikipedia page. They ask questions about the company in interviews. Prepare your CV well. You should tweak your CV according to the company you are sitting for. Make sure you include skills that the company is looking for.

General Tips: Most students waste their final summer vacation. This is the best time to work on aptitude, logical reasoning and puzzles. Brush up everything that you studied in three years of your engineering life.
College Name: NIT ROURKELA
Motivation: Yes. I always wished to get into an analytics company. I never wished to go into core sector and analytics was the best bet for me.

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: The online test consisted of Quantitative Aptitude, Verbal Ability and Logical Reasoning questions. Almost all the companies coming for the placement season have this pattern in their tests, so I was in regular touch with such questions.
Tips: Aptitude and verbal ability practice is a must to clear the written rounds of any company, so be in constant touch with that.

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: There were no GD rounds. All the rounds succeeding the online test were Personal Interview rounds. I had two interviews after being shortlisted from the online test.
Tips: NA

Round: Puzzle Interview
Experience: The interview rounds consisted of HR questions and mquestions too. Such questions can be easily found on the internet and I had practiced some from each kind before the interviews. mathematical puzzles, guesstimates, aptitude questions and general mathematics
Tips: Aptitude and verbal ability practice is a must to clear the written rounds of any company, so be in constant touch with that. Identify your strengths and weaknesses beforehand and build up answers based on that for the HR interview rounds. Mock interview and GD sessions among friends or at the hostel would really give a confidence boost while facing the actual processes.

General Tips: The most important advice: Be patient. Never give up on yourself if you are rejected by a company, in any of the rounds. Your day will come, even if it is somewhat later than you would like it to be. :)
College Name: NIT ROURKELA
Motivation: Considering the fact that my department had slim chances of entertaining recruitment from a core company, I had always aimed to be picked up by an analytics firm. Thus, I would term my placement satisfactory

5 Interview Rounds

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: I have a fetish for numbers. So, rather than a month long preparation, requisite effort was there for quite some time and a brief stint with Vedic Maths formulae sufficed. One can always start with the Vedic Math channels in YouTube
Duration: 29 minutes
Total Questions: 75

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: There were no GD

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: In the 1st round of interview, the interviewer asked question primarily based on my CV and the form they had asked us to fill up right before the interview

Round: Stress Interview
Experience: The 2nd round was basically, a stress interview. They test you by asking to multiply numbers in your head, in let’s say, 10 seconds. Or by giving you fictional scenarios.
Tips: I was in touch with our seniors in the company, who had suggested that, a brief idea about trading and markets would help. I have been following Investopedia for quite
some months. Also, I have been following YouTube channels of Lex Van Dam et al, to know about high pressured trading environments. Ultimately, they were quite helpful
and if you really have interest in knowing these things, you will enjoy the entire prep process

General Tips: I had no interest for going into any of the Core companies. So, I had made up my mind to go into anything but Core or IT. And after going through Futures First job profile and the reviews of some of our alumni placed in the company, it was one company that I was hoping for. So, yes, I am satisfied.
Skill Tips: NA
College Name: NIT ROURKELA
Motivation: Getting placed is more luck than anything else. But, a bit of preparation can always come in handy. I would suggest a constant study of the current happenings in the business world. Reading newspapers and books or following blogs can be of great help. For this company in particular, practicing speed maths is a must as some of us faced questions of 3-digit and 2-digit multiplication to be answered without pen and paper within, 10 seconds. Stay calm for interview, because the key, ultimately, is confidence. Just remember, no one gets anything more than one deserves and before the scheduled time. So, deserve, desire and chill.

4 Interview Rounds

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: I had a hard time taking out time to prepare because of the TnP work so I concentrated solely on campus preparations throughout the summers apart from PC work and left out my project work. I worked out a little from the GATE practice book, programming questions from “Exploring C”, and rest from “Coding Interview Questions” book by Karumanchi. These 3 books were all that I read or prepared to some extent and found them sufficient for covering up all the points in detail
Tips: A combination of strong basics in your subjects, good projects and club activities can help you bag possibly any good job. My only suggestion would be to not restrict yourself to grade studies. Also, spend time productively in the campus, be it coding, sports, clubs, etc..

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: For technical rounds, I practiced my subjects from the books mentioned above, though I dint practice aptitude questions much due to lack of time and interest. I also brushed up on my internship projects for the interview rounds since we tend to not remember them in details. For the HR round, I just tried to be as genuine as possible.
Tips: For a CSE student, there is no dearth of opportunities and companies coming up, but the major challenge is the amount of pressure that builds up subsequently. Initially I missed out on a few major companies like MS, Dell and Novell. Also, being a PC, I was missing out on a lot of preparation time.

Round: HR Interview
Experience: My placement season was short which is a bit relieving as now I can concentrate on my project work and placement coordinator work. Every written test and interview were a great experience. There were a lot of frustrating times when a program dint work out or I missed some round by a small margin, but then I tried keeping faith in my abilities and tried to move on. My parents and friends helped me out a lot to get back up every time things weren't working out. At the end of the day, if you have worked hard to achieve something, you will definitely get it at the most opportune moment.

General Tips: I got a dream offer from Unisys and a super dream offer from Teradata, on 8th Aug. I am satisfied with both the companies that I am placed in. I would personally prefer Teradata because of better research environment there, the job entry level and pay package.

5 Interview Rounds

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: I looked up for some aptitude questions on the internet.
Tips: Given the profile of Mu Sigma, I am not satisfied with the company and I am hoping to get into a better company.

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: I did not prepare anything. I personally do not think one can prepare anything for a GD.

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: I did not prepare anything. I personally do not think one can prepare

anything for an interview as well.
Tips: NA

Round: HR Interview
Experience: I did not face any challenges as such.
Tips: I was rejected in the first round of dell. The reason was my bad

performance

General Tips: For the juniors, read the Job Description and the Profile of the company very carefully before you apply. Do ask your seniors about the work culture of the concerned companies and then decide whether you can take up the role that is on offer. Given the placement policy of the institute, one has limited options which he/she needs to carefully examine. As of preparations, you can prepare online mock aptitude tests for the written rounds. For the HR rounds, one can at best get in touch with the latest news. I wish you all the very best for your future endeavors.

Motivation: The overall experience was average. I was down when Oracle Financial Services, a company that I was eyeing for, refused to include Industrial Design in its placement programme. However, the offer from Mu Sigma lifted some of my spirits.

4 Interview Rounds

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: Well DELL was the first company visiting the campus for recruitment , So luckily I didn’t have to experience any kind of placement related challenges.
Tips: First was the regular written round which majorly included questions on Aptitude, Operating System, C, DBMS, Computer Networks, C++/Java.

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: Second round was the technical interview round. I was asked questions on aptitude, Presence of mind, C, C++, Data structures,Dbms and some logical questions. They were particularly interested in my DBMS project that I have done in the 4th semester.
Tips: Actually ,The truth is I didn’t prepare myself for the interview rounds at all but was confident about the thought behind was I wanted to stay as genuine as possible. And that turned out to be a very strong point. About the technical questions, a clear knowledge of subjects helped. If I didn’t know the answer I clearly said it to them, and they would continue with another question. And regarding the non-technical questions, I answered what got to my mind then.

Round: HR Interview
Experience: Third was the HR interview .I was asked about my family, interest etc.
Tips: BE HONEST !

General Tips: With a light heart I am yet to see my friends getting placed, as the placement season has just begun
College Name: NIT ROURKELA
Motivation: Be confident and genuine. This is what will make all the difference.

5 Interview Rounds

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: Questions in the written round were asked from whatever had been taught to us in the last three years. During the last summer I had revised some of the subjects which I thought would be important for placements.
Tips: I was not ever rejected by any company; I was not found suitable once

earlier. I agreed. My technical skill required a little more brush-up. I came back remarkably well this time.
Duration: NA minute
Total Questions: NA

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: There were no GD's
Tips: NA

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: I did not prepare anything specifically for the interview rounds as questions in the interview can cover anything from subjects to hobbies.Projects happened to be not the least important. It’s important to analyze life and events thereof and face interview as a heart to heart interaction, what you know and believe in. The task becomes so simple!
Tips: Take classes seriously and do not limit the areas of interest to the respective branches only. Learn new things. What is important is not only a good grip on a subject or two, but development as a complete person.

Round: HR Interview
Experience: It’s extremely challenging to convince veterans from world class companies that what they search for is here and now, more so when competitors can be underestimated to one’s own peril.
Tips: NA

General Tips: I’m proud of my company, my first step in the long journey. It’s bluechip. They cared for me; I’ll certainly care for them. I believe in the Aristotelian value of satisfaction. Values are the prime movers of life, and satisfaction is transient a la Higg’s boson. The spirit knows no bounds!
