3 Interview Rounds

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Resume Shortlist
Experience: The selection criterion was at the beginning only on the basis for CGPA but later they also chose students on the basis of their profile even if their CGPA was low.

Round: HR Interview
Experience: In the interview round they asked very few HR questions but were more centered towards technical questions. In the HR questions they asked me about how I will handle tough situations, what were my strengths and weaknesses, where did I see myself in five years and why should they choose me. Besides this they also asked me the following questions:

1)Questions from the resume.
2)Simple Amplifier working.
3)Differential Amplifier.
4)Basic coding problem, Fibonacci series print. Now generate this series on hardware i.e. using seven segment display build a circuit to generate this series up to f(4).
5)General Boolean expression solving problem.
This was almost all that they asked me in my interview.

3 Interview Rounds

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Resume Shortlist
Experience: The resume was as per the norms of the placement cell of our institute.
I used only one resume for different companies, however I altered my “areas of interests” to align them with the profile on offer. For instance while applying for programming profiles I mentioned my areas of interest as C++ and data structures, whereas in core companies I mentioned my areas of interests as machining and power systems.

Round: HR Interview
Experience: The company conducted a shortlisting process based on the resume. The requirement for an electrical engineering student to get shortlisted was a project in control systems and data structures. The company had also initially kept a CGPA cut-off of 7.0 but due to lesser number of applications they relaxed the CGPA requirement.

The next round was interview round. The interviewer was an electrical engineer himself. He was supposed to ask me core technical questions; however I told him that I was more inclined towards getting recruited for my strength in data structures. He asked me questions on data structures. He asked me to state the different sorting techniques that I was aware of. He also asked me general HR questions. He also asked me puzzles as well; in the puzzle he gave me a figure having 9 dots arranged in “3X3” matrix format and asked me to join them using minimum number of lines without lifting the pen.

The company shortlisted some candidates for the HR interview round, but I failed to qualify for that round.

College Name: IIT ROORKEE
Motivation: Robert Bosch is a core company. I had very little idea about it and came to know about it through the pre placement talk only.

3 Interview Rounds

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Resume Shortlist
Experience: I had mentioned my extra-curricular activities in my resume in a detailed and organised manner (all listed in a chronological order). Most of these were techno-managerial activities (organizational responsibilities in my tech fest). I had participated in an event called Robocon which added a new dimension to me resume.
I had done a project and a couple of internships during my four years of study – I mentioned the details of these in my resume. Although the resume that we submitted was in a standard format as per the norms of our placement cell, I referred to a website of Princeton University to prepare my resume. It’s a very good website and hugely referred by students for preparing their resume. I also got some valuable insights from my seniors for building my resume.
I laid stress on my achievements related to the technical field, because I wanted to land a job in my core field of study.

Round: HR Interview
Experience: The personal interview round was the only interview round that was conducted. The shortlisting of candidates was done on the basis of the resume. I do not know the exact criteria for shortlisting but I feel they laid stress on sound technical knowledge or achievements in the field i.e. if a candidate was involved into some sort of electronics related activity or had done a good project. A total of 6 students were shortlisted from the mechanical department.

There were two simultaneous panels and candidates could be sent to either of the two. My interview started with some basic H.R. (Human Resource) questions and then the interviewer dived straight into the technical questions. The technical questions were mainly electronics and robotics based. He asked me about Robocon event that I had participated in. I gave a brief account of the event and the robot that we created. He asked me to draw block diagrams and the circuit diagram of certain device and to explain the circuitry in detail.

The interviewer then questioned me on motor drivers. He asked me to state the I.C.’s used in motor drivers. I could not answer this one. He asked me another electronics question where once again I floundered – I feel that by this time my chances of getting selected had diminished severely. Towards the end of the interview the interviewer communicated the same to me clearly.
