6 Interview Rounds

Interview Questions

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Resume Shortlist
Experience: There was an initial shortlisting based on pure resume evaluation. There was a freshlist along with a waitlist. I was lucky to get shortlisted on the freshlist.
Tips: Give time to prepare your resume. Take a look at the resumes of seniors. Also get their feedback and comments on your resume.A lot of finishing is required.Dont do any mistakes on your resume.List your best attributes and make it as powerful as possible.Dont get dismayed by other's achievements, make your shine as brightly as possible.

Round: Guesstimate Interview
Experience: My first round was a guesstimate round. The questions asked were pretty basic and I breezed through. The interview was partially stress interview as the interviewer wasn't paying much attention to me, but staring into her phone.
Apart from the two guesstimate interviews, I was given a basic case to solve.
However 'Tell me about yourself' was asked initially to break the ice.So be ready with the answer!
Tips: Dont get perturbed by lack of attention from the interviewer, they are just testing you.

Round: HR Interview
Experience: This was an HR round. The experience was positive.
Tips: Be thorough with your HR answers.Students tend to delay HR prep a lot, however this round is often the deal breaker. You have to be likeable! So give sufficient time to your HR prep for questions like: "Tell me about yourself","Strenghts and Weaknesses"," Why you" and "Why this firm". Tell me about yourself is a very important question, make the answer unique and powerful.

Round: Case Study Interview
Experience: The question was basic however the round was a stress round. The interviewer was grim throughout the process.I proceeded step by step through the solution. I gave him three options for entering Delhi, saying that if he was ready to adopt these steps, he could enter the market (I don't remember all, however one was entering the luxury segment like BMW, Audi etc)
After 15 minutes, the interviewer told me that I was wasting his time and that I hadnt come up with a feasible solution.I was a little taken aback but I confidently stated that he had to adopt the steps I had suggested to enter otherwise he culd give up the endeavour.I also said that I wont lie to him just to please him. He then said" How would you feel if I offered you the job right now?"
Elated I accepted the offer.

Tips: Dont be scared.Take your stand,If the interviewer says your solution is rubbish, defend your answer well.Chances are they are just stressing you out. Ask ample questions. They might act that you are wasting your time, but dont hurry up.try to extract as many details about the case as possible.
The interviewer also said that the job is very hectic and involved travelling and if I was up for the challenge.I beamed and enthusiastically said that I was.

General Tips: Practice a lot of cases and guesstimates. They are not very tough, however you need time to get comfortable. Also by the time of the interview, you must have practiced many of them so that the interview would feel vvery easy.
Skill Tips: Practice in groups of 3-4.Practice cases with a friend.
Skills: HR Skills, Case Analysis, Guesstimate Skills
College Name: IIT Delhi
Motivation: Wanted to get into consulting industry.

  • Q1. Usual HR Questions along with some situational questions like what would you do in such a condition

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: The Aptitude Section included 2 sections, 1 Quantitative and 1 Data Interpretation. These were pretty straight-forward questions and if you have done a week's preparation for these, you would be able to ace it.
Tips: The test has individual cutoff for both sections so do keep it in mind while giving the test and these test copies are used by interviewers during the interview process and have an equal weightage as the interview round, so do your best in the test as well because it will help you at the end during your final evaluation.
Duration: 60 minutes
Total Questions: 30

Round: HR Interview
Experience: There were 2 people who were taking my interview, 1 Indian and 1 was probably from Atlanta Office of Kabbage. They were quite friendly throughout the interview and since I was doing great in the interview, they were also helping me throughout the interview.
Tips: The first round of interview is the most important and it gives confidence to us and also makes a huge impact upon the interviewer. So, if you have aced the first round of interview, then there are good chances of your selection.

Round: Puzzle Interview
Experience: There were some standard puzzles from standard books that we use. I knew them already and aced this round as well.
Tips: Feel confident and instead of directly giving out the answer show your thought process to the interviewer even if you are unable to figure out the right answer.

Round: Behavioural Interview
Experience: It was the shortest round that I had of just 10 minutes. The interviewer was asking some general questions from my CV.
Tips: It was a round just to check the behavior as the interviewer was a very experienced man. So, don't do anything stupid at this point.

Round: HR Interview
Experience: There was again finally this one HR interview where some standard questions were asked like why Kabbage? why hire you? etc.
Tips: It was a pretty easy round and the overall evaluation I think constituted 20% from each interview round and 20% from test. So, keep your cool in this round as it is a decisive one.

General Tips: Be cool, confident, do your homework about the company in advance as it would give you an extra edge over others and always take tests very seriously.
Skill Tips: Puzzle solving and behavioural part is most important, so do practice a lot on these.

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: . Listen complete question care fully and than answer. If you don't know the answer say u don't know instead of guessing the answer. Try not to mention those subjects (topics) in which you are not confident. If u are good in some field (software skill, coding, technical extra curricular activity, robotics, etc ) and interviewer do not ask any thing about that in that case you mention it with your own.
Tips: Try to talk more about your current project and recent activity.

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: There are technical , aptitude and English. Anyone who have studied for GATE can do technical easily. For aptitude and English, it is just time management that matters. So, do aptitude questions as far as possible.
I did almost all questions in all three sections. In technical section, I could not do last 3 question as time was over. That shows questions were very easy. In aptitude and english , almost all questions are simple except some tricky one.
Tips: Do not waste time in any section, in which you have doubt as it was just a time management game and other questions are waiting to be answered that you know. You can easily find Tata Motors campus selection question paper online. If your aptitude is weak, give one week time for aptitude preparation.

Round: HR Interview
Experience: It was pretty cool 5 min interview in which it was just asked that how was the technical panel and how you felt during interview.

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: The 1st question iteslf shows that technical panel was not basically only core technical , but mix of technical and HR and I think that's why HR panel was just formality. But,  the expectation of answer was not only HR point of view, but mix of both. When I answered just HR point of view then , interviewer(only one man was there to take interview in each case - technical panel and HR panel) asked about my technical interest too like interest in automobile , engine etc.
Tips: Just be calm and make your basics clear on IC engine.
