Salary, hike, very uneasy/ trouble making when it comes to project change request. There are various departments but they will not hear your voice neutrally only listen to higher position employees with good amount references / channel.

Likes

The Tata culture and code plays a very important role in any Tata company...and that's true for TCS too. The facilities are excellent. There is literally no fear among employees to get sacked off.

Dislikes

The most obvious downside is the compensation. The compensation is approximately 30-50% lesser compared to other competitors. The year end hike percentage is usually around 5-7% and promotions are also very less. The work culture and your work life balance will depend on your project. For me it's really bad. There's also mandatory Work from office, which is now redundant. They may ask for few days/ months when it's needed for some conference or other needs, but work from office is both a waste of time and money. It interferes with learning, your work life balance and all other stuff.

Likes

While the starting salary might be less, it appraises quite a bit during your entire career as some people stay their entire lives here. Personally, I think the starting salary for Digital associates is quite enough for a mid-tier city but so are the taxes. A sense of job security, since they didn't layoff a single employee during the COVID pandemic. A generous insurance policy, enough PTO if given prior notice are amongst the benefits.

Dislikes

I have heard that appraisals can be tough but I haven't experienced it yet. I got around a 9% appraisal after my first year here, but I have heard it gradually goes down from the next.

Likes

Somewhat you have work life balance in some accounts. In some accounts there is no work life balance. You have job security but they will create such a situation that you will find its better to find a job get out of this. So, you will have time to find a better opportunity and there is kind of certainilty untill you find a better option.

Dislikes

Terrible increment and salary structure for upto mid level. With this kind of salary and increment, you will be starving after retirement if you stay in this company till then. The senior management will take it all, leving peanuts for you. The management does not care if you resign. They will hire a fresher in your position and will expect same output. There is nothing called promotion. Unless you have someone from the management in your back or in relatives.
