-Good compensation compared to market -Work from home flexibility

Everything else is a problem. -Culture sucks. Leadership is arrogant, extremely rude & busy doing internal politics. Also, they are incapable of taking decisions most of the time and are only good at beating around the bush. -No job security at all. They can ask you to leave any day without giving any heads up since they have to cut down costs. It has nothing to do with your performance. -Even work satisfaction is not there most of the time because one day leadership will tell you to leave everything else & work on some task on priority and when you do, they won’t even look at it the next day because apparently priority got changed. -No training or help provided to new joiners. They just simply expect you to know everything from the start and will taunt if you are unable to meet their expectations. -No rewards & recognition, no HR connects, no fun activities ever, etc. They think that since they are paying you decent, you should be ready to do anything for them.

Culture is average with a lot of work. Only advantage is WFH.

...llows what business teams ask them to. Mere puppets in the hands of VPs/CBOs. 3. Very poor compensation & appraisals, since stock market fiasco. 4. No work life balance. 5. Layoffs quite frequent. Think twice before joining as no job stability.

Good pay - high salary compensating for all the anxiety job entails

... want to ensure you join the company only after due consideration. Pre-Joining: -Was working with a renowned startup solving real world problems when Paytm approached with a hefty pay increase and promise of a meaningful job in Product team -Happily I joined despite being warned of the ill culture thinking how bad could it be Beginning: -Manager (HOD) was quite mature & trusting but didn't convey what my role or responsibilities are going to be for good initial 2 months -Figured out myself through peer connect ever hoping there would be more for which I am brought since work seemed like nothing for the 40+ lpa they were paying with me in terms of intellectual simulation -Waited another 6 months to see if there's something I am missing but alas nothing -Top most management (unke oopar and aage koi kuch nhi) scheduled reviews monthly with our team blaming our team is doing nothing and stakeholders are saying nothing in Product is being picked up - reality in next line -While issue was that none of the business leaders who were stakeholders cared to see their own team's charters or figure their priorities, when asked by the top management, always said we don't know, Product team doesn't pick anything despite sending multiple reminders & asking for requirements (while that should have been job of the requesters) - no one cared to read their mails and just felt going on people's back was easier than reading the mails Intermediate Management Musings: -While reviews were held to see what Product Charters are being worked on or upcoming, usual meetings (if they happened as scheduled) would often sway into a completely unrelated direction with random personal Europe trips being discussed at times -People would be nitpicked for not keeping their videos on; people would be humiliated for not having a proper net connection for even 2 mins and their managers would be asked to talk to top management -People would be flown from different cities for a review and then out of the blue review would be cancelled and informed on the same day when everyone would be present -Top leadership (one who is above all humanity) would treat even home keeping staff so disgracefully hurling expletives in case a pen or marker wouldn't be there in the conf room -People would be arbitrarily given ultimatums in the review saying they are doing nothing (and being asked their JDs) and would be fired right away Recently: -While business is rough due to regulations from RBI, no one wants to handle things gracefully -Arbitrarily people managers are asked to nominate people in their teams to be laid off without following any process or due diligence on what they have done or not done -Shareholders need to see profits, what better way to get it quickly than to fire people; out of the blue people are told their job is redundant while ones left behind (like me) have to work extra hours to cover up for the gap left by the ones laid off -Leaders have no backbone (or else it will be broken by the top management) to stand for their teams & are either laid off (asked to leave) or moved to a non revenue generating function to throw a blow to their career - Dictator movie yaad dila diya :) -There is a sense of uncertainty and blood bath due to they way layoffs have been handled recently in the company Summary: Macha, if you feel you can handle pressure, think 10 times since you will be exposed to repeated humiliation and God forbid if you have exposed yourself financially (taken a hefty loan thinking of good salary you will get from here), you will be having constant anxiety attacks Fun Story (up to you to believe or not): -I once was taking a flight home when my seat happened to be with a family friend of the top management (one above all); she asked me do you work with him & how is your experience - knowing she is a family friend, I told her it's fine only to which she said are you sure - hesitantly I said can be tough at times to which she said she knows and it's not a hidden fact even in closer circles

Salary will be good from Managerial level employees. For front line executives, even that's not possible as the basic salaries itself were linked to daily tasks.

Almost everything! If you really have no other option and only salary is your motivation to switch the job, only then go ahead. Else kindly stay away as you will regret for life. One of the worst decisions I have taken in life is to join Paytm. Be aware!
