It's a great place for getting a work experience and if you're under the right PI, would recommend the institute for a PhD as well.

Commuting to the campus is an expensive hassle. For people applying/ joining for the position of a Project Associate or similar posts, do a background check on the lab and the PI, just so that you don't regret joining later.

Food at Mess

Dislikes

Most of professors are too much egoistic, and they think of themselves as gods. The NMR and Mass facilities are too much problematic and go down occasionally. The permanent technical staffs are not much cooperative. The DORD staffs are terrible and they don't have any professional attitude. They are extremely reluctant to work.

Only positive would be the timely monthly remuneration

Dislikes

Worst work culture, no on the job training provided, no career growth prospects. And worst of all lot of internal politics. Management doesn't provide any kind of clarity. There are no additional benefits other than monthly remuneration. Even doesn't have a proper leave policy. Kindly note that all these issues are applicable only to contractual staff. Clear discrimination between permanent and contractual employees. For example, for any festival celebration, only permanent staffs are invited. Contractual staffs are not participants in the celebrations but need to work to make the event happen.

Too much academic policing, no support from anyone during your course, not even from the teachers.... They know only about their profit and their publishing...
