... once your in, every on thinks this is great culture. Backend is a world apart. Great parties, off-sites, merch, pay. Still lots of work and pressure, but a world apart. How you move up. Basically if you're not connected, you join retail team. Within 2 years build good contacts, and move into backend teams. Warehouse team is also ok, but they work a lot too. If you have family, avoid joining the company. Also there is a notion that no one will fire you, it's a very safe company, I have countless friends who have been asked to leave for the most random reasons. So they are not counted as layoffs. They have great sporty culture, which is good. But need to really weigh the pros and cons. Tons of friends who have worked for over 5-6 years, stuck in roles, with menial pays vs industry.

Now happily working in a Swedish company with greater culture. Work culture is just in talk and paper, not in reality.

Likes

The work culture initially was good, but it drastically degraded in 2-3 months. You get to work with different kinds of people, it makes coming to work interesting. Also they wont fire you no matter how badly you work. there's no target pressure unlike other retail stores.

Dislikes

...e your role whenever you want and go in a different job role inside the company. what they fail to mention is that it'll take you on an average 4-5 years on floor with bare minimum salary to join backend. you have to sweet talk your way into promotion, it wont matter how good you work unless you are in good relation with the upper management. I have worked with managers who were in the company for 8-10 years with a salary of 38k. if you end up not on the good side of the management they will keep you on the same salary and position for years! Forget having a life outside the company. you will have to live and breathe decathlon, to the point where you will have dreams of facing the products, or doing delivery. do not expect anyone to give you guidance, because the managers who are willing to do it, have probably left the company by now. There's a revenge culture within the company, if you are doing your job and step on some toes, expect that there will be consequences big or small. Lot of biasness while giving hikes or promotions, the kind of work and effort you put doesn't really matter then. If you want success in this organization, just be on very good terms with the upper management. do not question them, also forget any work life balance (which essentially means there will be times you would be working on your week offs, and easily will have to extend shifts from 9 hours to 12-13 hours a day at least 3-4 days a week), you will be set for a promotion in 2 years. The "coaches"/ managers aren't responsible for your growth or for any contributions in the team, they have been hired just based on their networking skills, not their work.

... ask to leave on time. You have to work overtime. No extra payment for overtime. Bonus are negligible. No team outings. Authority given to minors. Don't even know how to manage things.

...raisal is very low and they give bonus every month based on company performance. Appraisal and salary hike is very very low.

Dislikes

There is no politics but the management is poor,who doesn't address the issue. Starting salary is good but career growth is super slow. There is no bond,you can leave anytime on the probation of one month. On the Job training is the best thing Decathlon could have. But new joinees doesn't get the chance to know all of it

...nce between the time work per week and the time you need to finish your stuff. In general the pay is good, the time is in a mean 25 h/w, 2 free days, 1.5 days of vacations for 1 month worked, good environment and you discover new sports.

Dislikes

Your contract is for hours, so, they actually can rest time each week if the sales aren't being the good ones. It's hard to get promoted.
