I joined WeMakeScholars after 1.5 yrs of experience at 2 different mid-size start-ups. But believe me, WeMakeScholars is a very different experience. Company has a pretty positive vibe- lean hierarchy, very simple practices, rarely any politics, most people love the company. A good number of employees continue after 1 yr bond and I have spoken to a few who expressed missing the company after leaving, but at the same time, there are a few haters also, who are always negative about every policy, every change and there is one such person in my team. Working in this role for more than an year, I have understood one thing it is very different working in a start-up vs a large company. Good company, Excellent colleagues, Good role, No politics. Salary is always credited on time and better than what market offers for freshers. You won’t even get in-hand starting salary of 22k in TCS or Wipro. And most important, company is pretty stable, without any investment, so bro, you won’t get an email saying “Laid off” unlike Byju’s or unacademy.

Dislikes

There is too much competition in FO role. There are perks also, but you should be someone who wants to work hard and grow.

I relocated to Hyderabad to join wemakescholars. Of course, the starting salary of 22k was tight when you are the sole earner in the family and you have to send minimum 10k back home for your parents survival needs. I worked hard, in fact, very hard for one year and when it came to my retention, Arjun and Kshitij, offered me a good hike almost 12k on my base pay. As it is a start-up, there is a good amount of work. You cannot have that MNC routine of Login, tea break, lunch break, smoke break, tea break and logout. There is actual work here and which demands a little extra hard work. So, not for cool yo-yo guys.

Worked as a financial officer. On top of my 22k fixed salary, I got more than 8k incentives for most months. In season time, got more than 15k to 20k incentives per month. The harder you work, the more you get. It is a good job for freshers. I left due to other career goals.

I worked here for 1.5 yrs and now working in Bengaluru, as my family had to shift. I can see how in my current company how they treat freshers, literally no meaningful role and no respect. But because WeMakeScholars is made of freshers with atleast 90% having their first job at WeMakeScholars, they really value freshers. My role was good. Detailed training was given on banks products and screening criteria. Daily job required a lot of calling. But many students prefer whatsapp and email conversion, so I didn’t had to call them regularly. Students put a lot of trust on us, so we have to make sure we help them get the best loan. Sales is involved in this role, as we have to follow-up on students. Many students are little chilled out, so we have to more serious than them, otherwise in the end they blame their financial officer if their loan gets delayed....Read More

I liked everything about this company- job, work life balance, culture, discipline, everything. I joined this company after working in Byju’s for 6 months. And I am telling you wemakescholars is heaven. And all the negative reviews you see are from those freshers, who have zero idea of what's happening in the world, they have never seen how the managers screw you in other companies for targets. These freshers firstly don't know even basics of professional world, even how to properly write an email and when somebody is trying to teach them ABC of everything, they call it micromanagement. I am working as a financial officer at WeMakeScholars for the past 11 months, at the same time, I have friends who are working in other companies- large MNCs and small start-ups. I can tell you one thing that my role is the most sensible role among my friends. I atleast know what I am doing in my life and how my work is helping someone. And none of my friends even got any proper training in their companies. It was just 1 week scripted training and that’s it. Whereas I am continuously receiving personalized training and feedback.
