Disappointing Interview Experience with D.E. Shaw

I recently interviewed with D.E. Shaw, and it turned out to be one of the most draining experiences I’ve had. The interviewer’s approach felt unnecessarily harsh and dismissive, which made the entire process uncomfortable. At multiple points, the interviewer asked me to drop off the call, even when I tried asking basic questions about the designation, job description, and other details. After the interview, I found myself sitting there for a few minutes, trying to process what just happened. It left me questioning the overall tone and professionalism of the interview. Definitely not the experience I was expecting from such a well-known firm.

The flexibility of office hours and timely salary

The most toxic culture I have ever seen. If you can’t please your manager, they will make your life miserable. Absolutely no trainings and guidance will be given. I would not recommend working here as they mentally torture you some way or the other and nobody takes a stand for the wrong things which have been happening in this office. If you’re not from the travel background, please don’t go as your mental peace will be at stake by the end of a few months. Also, I have noticed a pattern that they hire people before season and would want them to leave (they won’t say it directly, would rather make your life hell so that you yourself is forced to leave). Management Policies are Good but there are no promotions in the department and no rights received for career growth otherwise staff is good, H R is very helpful. Each employee is doing the same task from last 15 to 20 years on which he had joined.
