Disappointing Interview Experience with D.E. Shaw

I recently interviewed with D.E. Shaw, and it turned out to be one of the most draining experiences I’ve had. The interviewer’s approach felt unnecessarily harsh and dismissive, which made the entire process uncomfortable. At multiple points, the interviewer asked me to drop off the call, even when I tried asking basic questions about the designation, job description, and other details. After the interview, I found myself sitting there for a few minutes, trying to process what just happened. It left me questioning the overall tone and professionalism of the interview. Definitely not the experience I was expecting from such a well-known firm.

1. Micro management. Almost feels like a school... 2. Very low salary. Management & Team leads hired members more than their project required, resulting in spliting up budget... 3. Very low skilled team leads & senior members. Resulting in poor knowledge growth for juniors. 4. Though seniors & leads are low skills, their attitude and ego levels are high, they act as if they were the CEOs and COOs of the company. 5. Almost every team is worst. No flagship skilled team. Every team is low skilled. So newbies have to learn and upskill on their own, with no one's help & support. 6. Zero respect. 7. Easy projects. No tough projects. So hard to learn new stuffs. (If u are a person, who wants to be alone with noones help, learn stuffs and upgrade yourself in your free time. And u r expecting a safe place with low lay off rates.
