I'm working for procurement now, aiming to boost my career growth in terms of financial and grades. I'm inclined towards project manager or business development (looking at few of the professionals having good aspects in the above mentioned). Should I change my domain to project management role or continue in procurement ? By changing the jobs, can we increase our salaries just like IT folks do ? Top leadership have great vision and the company has lot of potential. PayPal provides decent work life balance and there is plenty of opportunity to take up and drive new initiatives from ground level.

Dislikes

Mid-management is not competent and they don't have any good process to evaluate contribution and potential for growth of employees. Most people in mid-management (manager to director level) neither have technical knowledge not leadership skills. Career growth mostly depends on luck and office politics. Especially at senior technical positions, opportunity for growth is very limited.
