The only good thing about the company is that they have remote working culture.

Where do I even start? The company is going through a restructuring process and the way top management is handling everything is not good. We were asked to reapply for our jobs recently. The Editorial Director himself doesn’t know anything about the editors and ended up laying off a few people giving silly reasons. He is extremely biased and unprofessional who holds grudges against people and entertains those who butter him up. Packt has a really good work culture and are very empathetic. The Management is good and gives attention to everything that goes on in the organization.

Dislikes

In terms of career growth, they are putting in the effort to train but are not able to provide the opportunity that the candidate deserves.

One can maintain a very good work life balance being at Packt and also learn managing ones work. But that can be done in a much better way at some other company as well. This is a Technical publishing company, so if someone is thinking about going here and learning Technical stuff, then this a big no no for a technical editor. The company has a very poor pay for the technical editors and even if you work hard, still you cannot earn a promotion within a years time. Earning a promotion will take more than 1 and a half or may be 2 years and even after getting a promotion you wont get a good salary in the end because the company doesn't expect people to stay here for more than a year. Even if you leave no one will try to stop you and its not the right place to be. Yes you can have a good work life balance but what will you do of such work if you cant learn or earn anything. Also none of the other companies accept experiences of this company as this is a publishing company and no web development or app development jobs will consider your experience from here. People try to be professional here but I think people here are BPO sort of employeess. So I dont recommend this company at all for the one's who are looking for a career in the technical field. Can maintain work life balance. A good company for managers and publishers(who are the managers of the normal managers). But I dont recommend going here for a Technical editor role of any role having editor written in it. Go for a managerial role.

Flexible timings is something that's amazing about Packt. You get to work from home as well.

Dislikes

If you work at Packt you won't have a personal life. You'll be forced to work day and night. The work distribution is very bad, some people have very little work and some have alot of work. Honestly, if you are unlucky, you'll get the worst team and alot of work.
