I am working as an Associate IT Application Specialist (they have naming conventions I am actually working as a Java Developer) in Symantec for almost 2 years. I started as an intern then got converted to FTE (Full Time Employee). we will look into below Key points: 1. Worklife and culture - Symantec is a giant cybersecurity company that has millions of customers including big enterprises and consumers. Worklife at Symantec is excellent there is an open door policy which means you can talk to anyone despite your hierarchy. Symantec does care about the employees and always strives to offer the best to employees. You can always adjust your work shifts depending on the workload you are having. There is no micromanagement in the Symantec. Symantec always empowers employees to work freely. Do your job and you are Good. 2. Compensation and Benefits - A company which offers the best Compensation, promotion and lots of benefits. The package at Symantec is very high and at the entry-level itself you will feel the difference. Symantec provides transportation to all the employees including contractors. They also provide cab for odd shifts. 1. Technology stack - has old technologies and they have not upgraded and they don't want to upgrade as it requires the immense cost to upgrade. some of the servers still run on java 1.7 and you have to write code that supports java 1.7 the outdated versions of servers, legacy applications (that no one uses ) 2. Career growth - PLEASE DONT GO FOR THIS COMPANY IF YOU ARE AT THE BEGINNING OF YOUR CAREER !!! this is because this will make you outdated. At the start of your career, you should learn new things and try to push your limits , challenge your skills, etc. when I was intern everything was new and I learned it. but when I see my other friends I see lot of gaps in the skills, They earn less but they know more I earn more but I know less. Symantec is for those who had enough IT life and want to enjoy the rest of the days of there lives :p !! If you are a technical guy who wants to build a career in the IT come back later when you are done with IT things :P Also, Symantec is now a division of Broadcom I would suggest don't go for the opportunity! :(...Read More

Job security, work life balance, free food, free transport, reward system, most of the policies are employee friendly. You get to learn a lot and no one will stop you from learning. A lot of extra curricular activities which help the employees bond.

Dislikes

The only thing to disliked while i was working was the director Mr. Sandeep Padhye. He single handedly brought the work culture and the quality down to ashes. The attrition rate has jumped up. That was the only thing that went up while he was the director. If he has quit you are good to join Symantec....Read More
