Developers are very unskilled. They have a work culture of "survival of the fittest". Colleagues wrote bad reviews for other employees to make themselves look better than others. You work from 8 am of day1 to 4-6am of day2. No appraisal at all in last 3 years, saying that you should be greatful that you did not get fired. Firing happened 4 times in a year. Perform is evaluated every month. You can get fired any time No perks and benefits. Those are mentioned in our contract has been retracted. No leave encashment, no food, no relocation....Read More

Initially I enjoyed working in Meesho as there was lot of learning, following latest tech stack.

Dislikes

Over the past 6 months, I feel that Meesho has become a sinking ship, evident through multiple layoffs. Some individuals were them were requested to resign as they were placed under a performance improvement plan (PIP), while others were let go due to team restructuring. Unofficially, the number of affected employees is believed to more than 500. The organisation initially promoted work from anywhere policy, attracting many employees who trusted and joined the company. However there was a subsequent shift in this policy with employees being asked to shift to Bengaluru. Poor work life balance. Poor management. Lot of learning as a lot of work is assigned. High expectation so you keep learning over the period of time.

- People centricity is getting lost and a lot of decisions are being taken top down like SDET(QA) role removal, Work From Anywhere policy removal, few backend PODs completely removed etc - Every monty one sale is eating out 1 weekend for everyone - Day start around 10:30 but no time to end :)

the tech stack and the engineering managers are really good and they give you free hand to work and allows you to experiment too.

the HR policy and company's ever-changing policies around workforce and working ways are pathetic they don't know what do they actually have to do earlier they said permanent work-from-anywhere policy now they have changed it completely and its work from Bangalore for all.

New Tech Stack Learning and Smart Peoples are USPs of Meesho. Apart from these two all things are uncertain. In townhall they talk about exponential growth and suddenly started laying off people

Lots of uncertainty and cost-cutting happening over the last year to make the business profitable. They scrapped WFA policy in the name of collaboration.

time at Meesho was disheartening as the company seemed to be plagued by issue of favouritism and politics, layoff, which heavily influenced performance evolution and stunted carrier growth opportunities. Rather than basing promotions on objective criteria like skill and knowledge, personal relationships were prioritised, leading todemotivation, low morale and high employee turnover. In my experience, layoffs at Meesho are particularly difficult, especially when it seemed like most talented engineers were being let go while those with personal relationship with directors were being retained. It was clear that layoffs were not based of objective criteria such as job performance and business needs. In May 2023, Vidit Aatrey suddenly called 15% layoff resulting in the termination of 251 engineers in one day and with the callous decision to make it their last working days. And other 15% approx. get layoff in yearly appraisal rating and asked to leave. if you value transparency, fairness, professional growth and job security, I suggest explore other opportunities outside of Meesho....Read More
