The initial period, if you are the new prop that founders like, are good enough. There are opportunities and praises galore.

Dislikes

Once the founders move on to newer fancies, they drop you like a hot potato. The narrow mindset and culture is sold in the name of focused hustle. Similarly, humility, which is often preached, is seldom practised. Incompetent people with almost no experience are anointed in high positions, with founders promising them ‘leader of the tomorrow’ kind of growth. Not a problem, only, they are painfully mediocre people who have been sold the idea that they are brilliant. As a result, if at all, you are unfortunate enough to be managed by any such person, you are doomed. Nepotism galore, friends and family are given undue importance and unfair advantages over others. A very inappropriate parent-child attitude towards employees, with no skill on how to deal with professionals irrespective of age or designation. No official structure or communication of changing policies and even internal team structures. Employees are expected to rely on grapevine for the same. No defined hierarchy as per the skillset and experience of the employee. The founders’ attitudes often reek of new money, which is really sad, given the brand started on a truly humble and promising note, at least on culture front.
