Although one has signed up for 24x7, you still get time to pursue your own personal interests, indulge in sports/ physical activities and give time to your family. The social atmosphere is great with free rations, medical facilities and standard living conditions. Overall it is not only a professional venture for the officer or sailor but a way of life for his entire family.

Dislikes

Much has been done to bring in vast changes in the Navy for the overall betterment of the personnel who serve, there is still scope to do more in the fields of Married Accommodation, Medical Facilities and schooling in remote/ small stations. In the office front a few of the orthodox processes be it financial or otherwise in nature needs to be updated/ modernised.

Excellent 34 yrs I had. Wish Navy provides us reemployment Unfortunately we don't see the need to retain the pool of veterans with immense knowledge and experience

The crisp white uniform. Bonding amongst peers. Service to the nation.

Dislikes

The severance package for Short Service Commissioned Officers isn't as per the recommendations of various committees. Short Service Officers are left to fend for themselves after completion of their tenure. Subsequent transition to corporate is hard and mentally taxing.

Autocracy of commissioned officer- commissioned officers are using their position wrongly. They don't think about others they are selfish and humiliating sailors. This is applicable for some of the officers. Needs to be improved
