There is serious need to review HR policy, work-life balance, work culture, career growth opportunities. I do not recommend people to join Short Service Commission as there is a lot of discrimination from initial training days to you are released after 10-14 years. Recently, they have also stopped giving extension from 10/12 to 14 years and yet they give re-employment to 55 yrs plus officers. Short Service Commissioned Officers do not get pension and medical cover so they are on their own in mid 30s. Therefore, Join only as Permanent Commissioned Officer in case of officers entry. I am third generation military personnel and have seen forces turning into job from service. Now people start thinking about promotions and next ranks from joining onward.
