Job security is good though someone is average in technical and having permanent employment also Policies are good but many people managers doesn't follow the IBM policies and practically, you can't do anything beyond people managers, no scope on HR for performance/work related concerns.

Dislikes

If you're happy with the package being offered and do not expect any salary hike at IBM during your employment then you can join IBM. It doesn't matter how smart you're at work!

I have been worked with IBM for 7 years 6 months as Tech Lead on the same designation. I have never been Promoted / Single Hike during the 7.6 years period with IBM GBS. It is a great company if you are a Secondary JOB holder in your Family Financial earners (Wife / Husband)... Not Good for Single Finacialy earner in your Family. Can work 2-3 years then Jump to the other com[anies, doesn't stay back more than 3+ if you never get any Hike / Promotion. Of course, this is my personal experience. 7 Performance cycles I was getting Solidcontributor as 2, 2+, 2 ratings (scale 1,2+,2,3,4 rating steps 1 is top and 4 is terminate) for first 3 years. and I got Check Point scale as per new process 10, 11, 10, 13 Points for another four years ( Scale rate 8 is lowest & 15 is Highest) Overall I placed in Very good performers and got 2 years Onsite Client location and Certified good performer. but IBM is not recognized with any single hikes / Band Change. This is push back of 8 years of career and I was requesting multiple times to promote me or a single hike. Performance ratings are no roles of recognition of the Payscale / Promotion in the IBM GBS. Its fully Personal Groups of Senior Managers who are under their umbrellas only can be recognized and Promoted every 2 years. mostly here Regional umbrellas loyalty with known personal people will get good recognition. the people who are in the IBM from 10+ years, 15+ years, are creating Loyal personal and Regional umbrellas to get promotions for their regional people only mostly: Kolkata & Pune in India During my 7 years, 6 months experience one, my Manager said he will nominate for the same Salary to Next Band / Promotion, I disagreed. Next time I have been nominated by another Manager to recognize for promotion but never processed and never get any Letter I waited for 3-4 months. Simply they said still HR is not approving and I Don't have any 7B projects to get that Promotion. These issues really hurt me and Resigned....Read More

10+ years and 15+ years with IBM Senior Managers making Regional Umbrellas and Honey caring with Personal knowing and under umbrella Honey Employees for only Promotions, Long term Onsite, Hikes. Other Laterals are Dying and leaving the Talen from IBM. only Honey Makers are staying in the Umbrellas ...
