The work isn’t too technical and there are enough opportunities to learn on the job

The leadership - people who make decisions do so on the basis of how they are feeling in the moment and how they perceive the person/situation - this applies to the Ops management, the recruiters and also the HRBP. This leads to double standards being employed for decision making... My mother had a stroke and was paralysed and needed me to be home with her to take care of her every need. The CPA leadership gave me work from home for a few months but continued to badger me about coming back to work and eventually asked me to resign (with a promise that once my home situation improves, I will be given the opportunity to get rehired). So my situation wasn’t critical enough for them to give me work from home for an extended period so much so that they forced me to resign. But another person who has their own health condition can get work from home for more than a year. So for an employee who is ailing, work from home is an option but not for an employee who has a completely dependent parent. When I tried to raise this to the HRBP Barnali, her response was - work from home isn’t our policy...when I brought up my colleague’s example who was getting extended work from home...she said - have some empathy, he has cancer. I have empathy for my colleague who has cancer and it’s great that he is being given an opportunity to work from home but Barnali and the other leaders there seem to be unaware of Empathy themselves - to them only cancer can be worthy situation to empathise, someone’s senior citizen parent who needs to carried to the washroom, fed, bathed and clothed by someone else because they are paralysed isn’t worthy of their empathy and understanding... Finally, my mother’s situation improved and I tried to see if I can get rehired but even in that they have double standards...like I said - the company seems to be running on people’s whims, fancies and moods......Read More
