Dislikes

The appraisal system in IDIADA is called 'PMS', which stands for Performance Management System. IDIADA's PMS can be described as a 'weapon of mass depression', that would make some of the world's most oppressive regimes jealous. The targets are completely fanciful and have hardly any relation to the actual work that you do. Having aPMS review with your superior is utterly depressing and I absolutely loathe these meetings. The review process is demeaning and makes hard-working employees who excel in their roles feel absolutely worthless. Managers are free to give the annual rating which can be completely different from the employee's self review and evidences attached, and the employees do not even have to sign it off. There is no accountability for the manager's rating and thus, PMS is used as a tool of overt favouritism. Any dissension with respect to the manager's rating is defended by HR with the reply: 'The manager has the best judgement'. Honestly speaking, I would be happy to sacrifice my increment rather than to go through the PMS process, but the HR forces each employee to go through it. IDIADA's PMS sucks out hope, optimism and happiness from our soul like a real life version of the dementors from Azkaban.
