She is the Real Winner
Congrats to the Indian Tax dept for winning the World Chess Championship and earning 5 crores out of the 11 crore prize money. Do you think it’s fair to deduct taxes on winnings? Did the government provide any support to him or his family during their preparation?

It’s fair! Taxes are essential for national development.🤷♂️

This is outright unfair. The government plays no role in an athlete's preparation or struggles but is quick to claim a significant portion of their reward. Prize money should be exempt from taxes for individuals bringing global honor to the nation.

Taxing 50% on winnings?
That's daylight robbery. The government barely supports chess, and then they take half of the prize money!

Typical India.....taxes on everything, but no real support for niche sports like chess.

Yes, taxes are fair, but the government’s cut is insane.
If the system worked for everyone, why do we have 99% of athletes struggling in India?

The government taxes winnings, yes, but they don't do anything to help these players get there. No training facilities, no proper sponsorship.

Stop blaming the tax!
The bigger issue is that chess players have to fund everything themselves. The government does NOTHING for them until they win.

Let’s be real. If you win, you pay.
Stop playing the victim. The tax department isn’t to blame for the lack of government support.
