Offer related guidance

Hi there, I need a little clarity. I am currently working as a Manager in an NBFC from the past 2.5 yrs. My current CTC is 7.7 Lpa fixed. I've an offer in hand with a CTC of 9.7 LPA but with a designation lower than manager i.e. DM. What is your take on it? Should I accept the offer? Is it a fair pay?

While a 26% hike in CTC is attractive, you should evaluate if the lower designation aligns with your long-term career goals. Does the new role offer better learning, growth opportunities, or work-life balance? If yes, the designation downgrade might not matter much in the bigger picture

Who cares about the DM tag if you’re getting more cash and good growth? Just make sure it’s not a dead-end job with a fancy paycheck!

DM sounds like a ‘Direct Message,’ not a downgrade! 😂 Take it if the money’s good and growth is better.

Ask yourself what you value more: the title or the salary? If DM at the new company comes with learning opportunities and faster growth, it’s worth taking the risk. But if the role feels like a step down in terms of responsibility, think twice.

Titles are overrated unless you’re into LinkedIn flexing. Look at the team, culture, and growth path. If those align, go for it

A drop in designation is worth considering if the new job provides better exposure or a faster track for promotions.

9.7LPA for a DM role is good, but make sure you won’t feel stuck later because of the title. Negotiate with the HR team to see if they can match your current title or offer clarity on growth!
