Need assistance
As a software engineer with over 2 years of experience, I've faced significant challenges at my current company. Despite my efforts, my salary has remained stagnant at 12 + 1 LPA for the past two years, with no career growth in sight. Recently, I received an offer of 18.5 LPA (fixed), but I'm experiencing FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) because many of my friends reached this level two years ago. Now, when they switch jobs, they get substantial hikes, while I was hoping for a 100% increase but didn't achieve it. I'm torn between focusing on learning and career growth versus prioritizing my salary, especially since I have big dreams like buying a house (at least 1 crore) and a car. I wonder when my CTC will grow and whether feeling this way is normal. Is my mindset off track? I would appreciate guidance on what I should do and where I might be thinking wrong.

I have 3.5 years of exp and salary is 4.5LPA. Now it's my first switch, I got 14 LPA, when I expected 13 LPA will be the most I can get. Like you, even I have many dreams, I want big house, a German car, super bikes, beautiful and loyal wife, a great watch collection and a healthy life. We weren't good by financially since I was a kid. Even now I'll think twice before spending something(I'm scared to back again). So, I wan to earn more, I want the peace of mind. I won't say you are wrong to think like that, that's what keeps us running. "Learn, keep on learning. Money will follow eventually" it's kinda true. Don't compare with anyone. We've struggled a lot to be here, sometimes it's good to look back and see how far we've come. Dream more, learn more, do more. This is what I'd tell old myself, who was lost just like you. All my friends owns cars, Buildings and a lot more. For that they've worked day and night, which I didn't do. So, let's work hard until the dreams come true.

It's normal to feel this way! Focus on your long-term goals. Consider the new offer for growth, but also invest in learning. Check out https://www.ambitionbox.com/salaries for insights.

Do remember, your career is a journey, and sometimes taking a step up in salary can also open doors for more learning and growth later. Trust your instincts and look for a role that pays you according to your potential and experience. I hope it helpsđź‘Ť
