If they’re cutting salary for a 6-month gap, ask them how they reward employees for working continuously. That should balance the conversation!

The industry and your role matter here. If the market demand for your skills is high, you should push for the same or higher salary despite the gap.

A career gap might cause slight salary negotiations, but don’t accept a steep pay cut. Aim for a middle ground by demonstrating your skills and readiness to contribute.

Try to minimize any salary decrease by highlighting how quickly you can ramp up and contribute. Position your career gap as a period of personal growth or skill enhancement.

Career gaps happen, and it’s okay. Stand your ground in negotiations and remind them of the skills you bring to the table. You’re worth more than just the months you’ve worked continuously!

Salary decreases due to a career gap are often subjective and depend on the company, industry trends, and your skill relevance. Typically, a 10-20% decrease might be acceptable, but it’s always worth negotiating based on your expertise and the value you bring.

A career gap shouldn’t always lead to a decrease in salary. If your skills align with the job, you can negotiate to match your previous compensation or close to it. Employers value talent, not just consistency

Gaps don’t define your talent. Companies value your expertise more. Enter negotiations with confidence you’ve got this!
