For a salary of just ₹12,000, female employees are expected to follow a strict dress code: only churidar-kurtas with a shawl pinned on both sides, hair neatly tied back with a ribbon, no jeans, no open hair, and no casual wear even on Fridays. It’s 2025, and we're still being told how to dress and present ourselves like schoolgirls?

This isn’t about professionalism, it’s about control. As a woman, it’s frustrating to see companies focus more on policing our appearance than valuing our talent. Is this an office or a finishing school?

Today, one of my team members asked me for a leave no sugarcoating, no excuses. Just a simple, “Can I take leave tomorrow? It’s my birthday.”

Now, my approval could’ve made all the difference. If I said no, he might still take the day off with a made up excuse. And honestly, I don’t even know if it’s really his birthday.

But what I did feel was intention. pure and genuine.

For the longest time, I believed that if I just kept my head down and did good work, growth would follow. Promotions. Opportunities. Recognition. All in due time, right?

Turns out, not really. No one’s handing it to you just because you’re consistent. You have to ask. Follow up. Sometimes even fight for what you’ve earned.

Met an old college friend after ages. He graduated in 2019, didn’t get a great job, and took up a 20K customer service role due to family responsibilities.

Two years later, he joined an mnc in ggn, now earns 65K, and has been working from home in raipur since 2021.

No rent, no grocery expense he lives with family, owns the house, and his dad runs a kirana shop. His expenses? Just 5K. The rest goes straight into investments.

He’s been investing in mutual funds since 2021 his portfolio is now 35L. He even started a SIP for his dad, which has grown to 20L.
All of this from a simple job, no big salary, no shortcuts.

No flashy car, no iPhone still uses his old 9K Redmi phone from 5 years ago. He knew growth might be slow, but mba wasn’t possible due to family needs. Still, he’s doing well living peacefully with family and steadily building wealth.
