New URC flour mill in Quezon seen improving supply, Agri dep’t says
- The opening of Universal Robina Corp.’s (URC) flour milling factory in Quezon province is expected to improve the availability of flour.
- The facility, located in Sariaya, Quezon, has a daily production capacity of 1,320 metric tons (MT) and an annual production capacity of 297,000 MT of flour.
- The new mill is set to start commercial operations in January and will directly employ 102 workers.
- The Department of Agriculture expects the facility to ensure a stable and affordable supply of flour and play a key role in the country's food production.

JG Summit profit falls 39% to P3.1B; CEO optimistic for Q4
- Conglomerate JG Summit Holdings, Inc. reported a 39% drop in third-quarter net income to P3.1 billion.
- However, the CEO remains optimistic about ending the year on a good footing.
- The drop in net income was caused by larger losses from JG Summit Olefins Corp., lower sugar profits from Universal Robina Corp., and reduced average fares from Cebu Air, Inc.
- For the first nine months, JG Summit recorded a 16% increase in net income to P17.9 billion.

Lower forex gains, sales volume pull URC income
- Universal Robina Corp. (URC) reported a 53.7% decline in its third-quarter attributable net income, falling to P1.42 billion from P3.07 billion in the same period last year.
- Third-quarter sales fell by 1.8% to P38.14 billion from P38.84 billion in 2023.
- For the first nine months, URC saw a 17.6% drop in its attributable net income to P8.02 billion from P9.74 billion last year.
- Operating income shrank by 3% to P12.3 billion amid lower profits from its sugar and renewables business.
