Panic at the Cisco tech, thanks to ancient IOS syntax helper that outsmarted itself
- A network tech, dubbed as Sherlock, recalls a incident from the 1990s where an autocomplete feature in Cisco's IOS caused a network connection issue.
- Sherlock mistakenly used the 'sh' abbreviation, thinking it would retrieve settings, but it actually shut down the connection.
- He had to find a modem to establish a connection again, but couldn't figure out how to re-establish the link to the head office.
- With the help of an engineer friend named Watson, Sherlock learned that he needed to use the 'net no sh' command to reverse the shut condition and fix the issue.

- A bootloader vulnerability in Cisco NX-OS affects 100+ switches, allowing attackers to bypass image signature checks.
