Block shares slip after-hours amid mixed earnings results
- Shares in Block Inc. declined slightly in after-hours trading today after the financial services company fell short on revenue in its fiscal third-quarter but reported slightly better-than-expected earnings.
- For the quarter ended Sept. 30, Block reported adjusted earnings per share of 88 cents, up from 50 cents per share in the same quarter of last year, on revenue of $5.98 billion, up 6% year-over-year.
- The company's growth was driven by its Cash App business, which saw a 21% increase in profitability to $1.31 billion.
- Separately, Block revealed that it was in discussions with several money transmission license regulators regarding its compliance program.
