Our client is a dynamic new-age NBFC focused on empowering MSMEs in rural and semi-urban markets through innovative financial solutions. We specialize in secured and unsecured lending, combining technology with a branch-led approach to deliver high-yield, small, and mid-ticket loans to underserved entrepreneurs. We're scaling fast and are building a high-energy, entrepreneurial core team in Mumbai.
Role Overview:
We're looking for an experienced MSME Unsecured Loan Credit Manager to join our core team. This is a high-impact role that involves driving credit decisions for unsecured MSME loans, balancing growth with robust risk management. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a strong understanding of small and mid-ticket unsecured lending and the ability to develop systems and policies while building the business and associated teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Credit Underwriting:
- Evaluate unsecured loan applications (INR 5-15 lac) from MSMEs. based in tier 3 tier 4 cities.
- Conduct detailed financial analysis, credit assessments, and risk evaluations.
- Ensure adherence to KreditVenture's credit policies and regulatory guidelines.
Policy and System Development:
- Design and implement credit policies, processes, and risk frameworks.
- Develop scalable systems for efficient credit evaluation and portfolio monitoring.
Portfolio Management:
- Monitor portfolio performance, identify early warning signals, and take corrective actions.
- Build a resilient credit portfolio by balancing growth and risk.
- Implement learnings from past credit cycles to enhance portfolio quality.
Process Optimization:
- Work with the team to improve credit evaluation processes and turnaround time.
- Leverage data and analytics for risk scoring and decision-making.
Business and Team Building:
- Actively contribute to building the unsecured lending business line.
- Hire, train, and mentor credit analysts and team members to create a high-performing credit function.
Market Understanding:
- Stay updated on market trends, competitor strategies, and customer behavior.
- Innovate new risk models and credit policies tailored for small and mid-ticket MSME clients.
Team Collaboration:
- Collaborate with sales, operations, and tech teams to drive end-to-end credit delivery.
- Report directly to the Founding Team, contributing to strategic decision-making.
Key Requirements:
Experience:
- 7-10 years in unsecured MSME lending at mid/large NBFCs. Candidates who have worked on evaluating MSME loans from tier 3 and 4 will be preferred.
Portfolio Insights:
- Experience managing portfolios through multiple credit cycles (both growth and downturn phases).
Risk Acumen:
- Strong understanding of risk management frameworks and their practical application in scaling unsecured loan books.
Policy and Systems Expertise:
- Proven ability to design and implement credit policies and systems.
- Entrepreneurial Mindset: Innovative, self-driven, and ready to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.
Business Builder:
Demonstrated ability to build and scale credit businesses and associated teams.
Market Knowledge: Deep understanding of small and mid-ticket MSME segments.
Soft Skills: Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and communication skills.
