Research & Development:
1. Conduct in-depth research on agriculturalresidues (e.g., bagasse, straw), wood-based fibers, bioplastics, and papersubstrates, including their chemical composition and material properties.
2. Develop a benchmark mechanism to differentiatesubstrates based on key properties (e.g., tensile strength, biodegradability , hydrophobicity , surface characteristics).
3. Explore and evaluate current technologies andscalability factors for producing bio-based substrates.
4. Lead studies on fiber properties, includinglength, strength, and bonding characteristics, and apply findings to improvesubstrate quality.
5. Study pulping processes (chemical, mechanical,and semi-chemical) and their impact on fiber properties for variousapplications.
Innovation and Process Development:
Innovation and Process Development:
1. Apply a nature-inspired approach to materialinnovation, exploring bio-based coatings, additives, and novel processingtechniques.
2. Develop formulations and processes to impartdesired characteristics (e.g., hydrophobicity, strength) to bio-basedsubstrates, especially bagasse and other agricultural residues.
3. Drive the application of advanced materialscience principles, such as nanocellulose, for enhancing substrate performance.
Scalability and Manufacturing:
Scalability and Manufacturing:
1. Work closely with cross-functional teams todevelop scalable processes for bio-based material production.
2. Plan and execute trials and experiments tooptimize processing parameters for improved yield, strength, andsustainability.
3. Collaborate with partners and vendors to scaleup processes, ensuring high product quality and achieving better yields atindustrial scales.
Testing & Analysis:
Testing & Analysis:
1. Lead testing and evaluation of raw materials,intermediate products, and final substrates, using standardized procedures(e.g., tensile strength, tear resistance, water absorption).
2. Analyze test data to derive actionable insightsand drive continuous product improvement.
3. Conduct compostability and biodegradabilitytesting in alignment with industry standards.
Product Specification & Validation:
Product Specification & Validation:
1. Develop product specifications based onscientific rationale, aligning substrate properties with desired end-productperformance.
2. Execute incremental trial modifications andfinalize product specifications for new bio-based materials.
3. Lead the validation of new products, ensuringthey meet required performance and environmental standards.
Collaboration & Reporting:
Collaboration & Reporting:
1. Provide technical leadership and mentorship tojunior scientists and engineers.
2. Communicate research findings, progress, andproduct development results to stakeholders and management through technicalreports and presentations.
3. Stay current with the latest research, industrytrends, and regulatory requirements related to bio-based materials andsustainability.
Stage-Gate Process & MVP Development:
Stage-Gate Process & MVP Development:
1. Guide projects through the stage-gatedevelopment process, from concept ideation to prototype and product trials.
