Business Strategy Support Manager - Reporting to MD


Designation: Business Strategic Support Manager (Individual contributor role)

Reporting: Managing Director

Employment Type: Full Time

Job Timing: 09:00 to 18:00 (Monday to Saturday)

Job Location: Surat, Gujarat

Job Summary:

- We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Business Strategy Support Manager to provide strategic and operational support to the Managing Director (MD) overseeing a portfolio of half a dozen startups.


- The ideal candidate will have a strong background in venture capital, financial management, project analysis, costing, and strategic decision-making.

- This job description outlines a role that combines strategic thinking with financial acumen and operational support, making it ideal for someone with a background in venture capital or high growth startups.


- The right candidate will thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and will have the opportunity to shape the direction of multiple ventures under the leadership of the MD.

Key Responsibilities:

- Investment Strategy: Work closely with the MD to assess investment opportunities, business valuations, and financial risk analysis.

- Provide support for due diligence and financial modelling for potential acquisitions, funding rounds, or partnerships.

- Monitor market trends and competitive landscapes to guide strategic investment decisions.

Management Information Systems (MIS) and Reporting:

- Design, implement, and maintain management reporting systems to track the financial health and key performance indicators (KPIs) of the startups.

- Prepare regular MIS reports for the MD to inform strategic decision-making across the portfolio.

- Develop and maintain dashboards, performance metrics, and data analytics to highlight key business insights.

- Automate and streamline reporting processes to ensure timely and accurate data is available to the MD.

Costing and Financial Analysis:

- Lead cost analysis efforts across the startups, identifying areas for cost optimization and efficiency improvements.

- Assist in developing pricing strategies, analysing cost structures, and identifying revenue-enhancing opportunities.

- Evaluate financial statements, monitor profitability, and advise on areas of improvement.

- Conduct variance analysis and suggest corrective actions as needed.

Project Analysis & Execution Support:

- Provide strategic guidance and data-driven insights for the launch and scaling of new projects within the startups.

- Assist in defining project scope, objectives, timelines, and financial plans.

- Analyze the success of ongoing projects, identifying risks and opportunities, and recommend course corrections as needed.

- Work closely with project managers to ensure alignment with overall business strategy.

Strategic Business Planning & Decision Support:

- Collaborate with the MD and executive teams to develop long-term business strategies and operational plans.

- Support the formulation of business forecasts, budgets, and financial models that align with corporate goals.

- Provide data-driven insights and recommendations for market expansion, new product/service offerings, and overall growth strategies.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

- Act as a strategic liaison between the MD and various functional teams, including finance, operations, marketing, and product development, to ensure alignment with business goals.

- Facilitate communication between the MD and other key stakeholders, including investors, board members, and senior executives.

Qualification & Skills:

Education:


- Master's degree in Business Administration- Finance/ Economics, from a reputed institute like IIM Lucknow / Indore , NMIMS , Jamnagar Bajaj Institute

Experience:


- 5 years of experience in a strategic business role, ideally within a venture capital backed startup environment or consulting.

- Proven experience in management information systems (MIS), costing, financial modelling, and project analysis.

- Hands-on experience working closely with executive leadership, preferably in a multi startup or portfolio management context.

Skills:

- Strong proficiency in financial analysis tools (Excel, financial modelling, business intelligence tools such as Tableau or Power BI).

- Knowledge of investment analysis, including due diligence processes, financial projections, and risk management.

- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and translate it into actionable insights.

- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage senior leadership and external stakeholders.

- Strong understanding of project management principles, with the ability to oversee and provide strategic guidance on cross-functional projects.
