You will be involved in product development and implementation for P&C insurance clients and large commercial businesses, delivering solutions that improve customer engagement, business growth, and risk management.
As the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Xemplar, you will be responsible for leading the technology vision and strategy in the rapidly evolving mobile telematics industry.
You will oversee the development and execution of technology solutions that drive the company's mobile telematics products, ensuring they meet the needs of our customers while maintaining innovation and scalability.
This is a leadership role, managing both technical and product teams, and working closely with cross-functional leadership teams to align technology strategy with business goals.
Job Responsibilities :
Strategic Leadership :
- Develop and implement the company's technology strategy and vision for mobile telematics solutions, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
- Lead the creation of new telematics products, including mobile-based applications, IoT solutions, and data analytics platforms, keeping a focus on scalability, security, and user experience.
- Foster a culture of innovation, agility, and continuous improvement, driving the technology team to explore emerging technologies in mobile telematics, machine learning, IoT, and data analytics.
- Collaborate with the executive team to define product roadmaps, key performance indicators (KPIs), and delivery timelines.
Technology Management :
- Lead and manage the product development lifecycle, including architecture design, system integration, testing, and deployment of mobile telematics products.
- Oversee the technical teams responsible for mobile app development, backend systems, IoT infrastructure, cloud services, data management, and analytics tools.
- Ensure the security, scalability, and performance of the company's technology infrastructure, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Evaluate and implement technology platforms, tools, and frameworks that drive operational efficiency and improve the customer experience.
Team Leadership :
- Build, mentor, and lead high-performing engineering, product, and technical teams, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
- Develop and implement processes to ensure efficient communication, timely delivery of milestones, and the continuous professional development of technical team members.
- Manage recruitment, performance, and retention of top-tier talent in the engineering and technology fields.
Product and Customer Focus :
- Work closely with product management, marketing, and customer-facing teams to ensure the development of products that address customer pain points and meet market needs.
- Drive technical differentiation by integrating advanced mobile telematics capabilities such as real-time data processing, vehicle tracking, diagnostics, and driver behaviour analytics.
- Analyze customer feedback, industry trends, and competitive landscape to inform product innovation and enhance the mobile telematics solutions.
Collaboration and Communication :
- Serve as a key spokesperson for the company's technology vision, representing the company in interactions with customers, investors, partners, and industry events.
- Communicate technical concepts and progress to non-technical stakeholders, ensuring that business decisions are informed by a clear understanding of technical challenges and opportunities.
- Work with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth integration and alignment between product, technology, and business functions.
Required Experience :
- 10+ years of experience in technology leadership roles, preferably in the mobile telematics, automotive, IoT, or SaaS industries.
- Proven track record in building and scaling mobile applications, telematics products, and cloud-based platforms.
- Deep technical expertise in mobile app development (iOS, Android), telematics hardware/software, GPS, data analytics, cloud technologies (AWS, Azure), and IoT.
- Experience with Agile methodologies, DevOps practices, and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.
Skills :
- Strong leadership, management, and communication skills, with a proven ability to influence and motivate cross-functional teams.
- In-depth understanding of the mobile telematics market, including data collection, analysis, and real-time processing.
- Familiarity with automotive industry standards, vehicle data protocols (OBD-II, CAN Bus), and telematics regulatory requirements.
- Strong business acumen, with the ability to balance technical excellence with business priorities and customer satisfaction.
- Expertise in cyber security, data privacy, and compliance standards relevant to mobile telematics products.
Educational Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Master's degree or MBA is a plus.
